Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

I didn't miss it nor the panicked disposal for most of the last quarter.

Lot of guys in trances in the last minute. Why they all wanted to move the ball quickly and into the corridor beats me. Moore marks on the wing 30 metres on his own. Shorts to Maric who dropped it. He could have milked 10 seconds and then gone long to the forward pocket - game over.

Maric makes up for his mistake makes a good tackle. Has the ball in the middle , Again milk ten seconds go back kick long to half forward - game over. Instead shorts to Tuch back of the square.

We know the rest.

Agreed. Surely the msg had been sent out to milk the clock then kick long down the line. Why the hell Tuck would kick it 8mts to a player at Half Back with 50 sec to go is beyond me....probably didnt hear the runner. Also agree that Hardwick shouldve had everybody back for that last bounce - knowing there was only 20sec left.

How come Bachar hardly gets a mention for his lack of accountability in the last ten seconds of the match that cost us the game? Karmichael Hunt took that mark uncontested because Bachar wouldn't man up on him. Bachar was 10 mts. away with no-one near him except Hunt, all he had to do was stand next to Hunt and give a contest but for some reason didn't want to go near him. Many posters are bagging out big X for the dropped mark maybe they should take another look at the end of the game.

Wouldn't have mattered if Houli had have manned up on Hunt. He would have lost yet another one one one contest and Hunt would have marked anyway. A soft footballer is Houli.

Big X; a ruckman who can not take chest marks. Exactly what we need.

the reason he didnt was because he tried to read where Matera was going to kick it and filled the hole about 15 mtrs out from goal. he guessed, guessed wrong and it was costly.
as others have said tho there should have been at least 3 or 4 other tigers in the area, to either mark hunt or fill the hole. instead there were about 4 one-on-ones.

Dumb football played by dumb footballers

I've been a fan but his too often poor disposal and no right foot ( which cost us in the last minute when scotch gave it to houli but was cornered on his left but can't kick on his right so handballed back at cotchs feet and caused a turnover) has turned me off him.

I am a fierce critic normally but he was ok last night. Matt Dea and Shane Tuck were not.

Brodders excusing Houli by claiming he was guessing where Matera was going to kick it is unbelievable. When you are a backman you man up if the opposition has the ball you don't guess and hope he will kick the ball to you instead of kicking the ball to his team mate Karmichael. On your sugestion that other tigers should have been in the area maybe they had manned up on their players like good defenders should.

i wasnt excusing him, but thats what he was doing. he got it wrong.
as for others in the area, well we should have about 5 spare there, but we didnt.
as for manning up, i assume you have got stuck into Morris somewhere. he was chasing Matera, but was about 10mtrs away, not impacting on Matera or being in a position to be at any other contest.

if he cant impact a game in the middle or on the wing delist him, because he is a shocking half back flanker

calls for delisting him are way off the mark.... due to one call? he was no way near our worst.

I blame those suspendended, both by the MRP and the club.

You got it wrong.

They showed down the ground footage of the final 20 secs on OTC and Houli had given Hunt a 10m legrope before the ball had even cleared the square! When Matera had the footy he was actually closing in on Hunt rather than trying to cut off the goals but it was too late and Hunt had free space for a simple mark.

Disgraceful defensive effort.

superb kick by matera, houli was in a very good position considering he, like most thought matera was gunna go for goal. blaming houli for his positioning is unfair as the way matera had a quick look and bent it back in hunts path was first class.

I think he needs to go long term but hold on to him now. Problem is he should be a depth VFL player not your starting HBF. He is way too soft...

Very true, but what if he had made it in time? This is jelly legs Houli we are talking about here, not exactly someone known for his ability to hold his ground one on one (and that's not even taking into account Hunt's weight, height and strength advantages). Very likely the end result would have been the same. Not sure what Houli's best position is, but when you are slow, unaccountable and physically soft defence is probably not where you should be.

I don't like to hang this on Houli, especially when I haven't seen the game, but the MOTH said to me a while ago that he's the kind of player that could cost us a grand final he's so loose and unaccountable in the back line. I just told him he doesn't know what he's talking about. :help

No you got it wrong, Houli was the only one trying to cover the space around the hot spot, it was too large for 1 player to cover, what about the 4 players who went to Matera? Or the other who didn't flood back.
