better than our AA full back?

Gas might have been a dual AA and Jack Dyer medal winner, but he can't grow a beard like Houli

I like the fact that Houli is being asked to do some really tough defensive roles each week. Not sure he is up to it but like the fact that he has to do it. As has been said - not that many games under his belt and his consistency has been ok. More than good enough this year and will be interested to see if he can improve next year. Yes he shoold have bloody well kicked the ball but one stuff-up aint a season.

I think we should overall be happy with his efforts. He has stood out big time in a few of our worst games as one of our only players to have enough skill to look like hurting the opposition.

Doged three contests today, dissapointing to see as I thought he had eliminated this out of his game.

Needs to work hard on this aspect of his game, I have not noticed any improvement in his hardness over the course of the year.

However, cast your mind back to his hard running to link up in the last quarter and excellent delivery while many around him were running on the spot and shanking kicks all over the place.

He is a keeper this guy, just needs to HTFU.

Saw them. He will never be the player that backs back into contests. Too ingrained in him now. He's there for his kicking. That's about it.

Bachar has some good qualities but unfortunately he is scared and that wont change.

Agreed this bloke is dead set soft, and the main reason i didnt want him at RFC, and another reason why Knights didnt rate him.

Has cost numerous goals this season by refusing to hit contests and commit hard, not to mention losing his feet all the time.

I think he may well be top 5 in the BF so far.

...and that would mean what exactly ?

Definetely not what you'd call "a tough footballer" by any stretch but has some decent skills that would be all the more noticable in a better team.

Has been passable in a very ordinary team and far from the worse, don't know how long his type can play though all the same, not a huge fan of blokes who are one dimensional and lack a hard edge to their game, Grigg is very much the same type, not sure we needed to recruit 2 exact same types in the ofseason, but it is what it is.

The way I see it with Houli

1. He has been one of our most consistent players this year.
2. He was recruited for stuff in the PSD all and well worth it.
3. He was recruited because he can kick.

I find it interesting that because he ticks all those boxes, we now have to find something else wrong with him. He is soft, he takes short steps, he can't win the footy etc. etc.

Some of you need to get a life. Seems we will not be satisifed until we have 22 All-Australians running round out there for us. Which would be nice, but it ain't going to happen.

So you see soft types as the players to lead us forward Streak !

No one's about "finding something else wrong" mate, its there for all to see, hasn't just developed because he has done OK in other area's, lets get serious.

The guy was let go because of this mark against him so its nothing new and by just bringing up that he ticks other boxes doesn't lesson the fact he's soft.

22 AA ?...........I think your stretching it now mate, anyone of us would be absolutely ecstatic if we could find 22 goer's who left it all on the field each week, that we could live with.

he was not 'let go'. he walked out on the dons. Hird was definitely on record as trying to keep him.
