Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

I've been critical of Houli, and the turnover I can almost forgive, as he was trying to create.

What I can't forgive is Houli allowing Crameri to play on and run in for an easy goal!

Yeah what you say is true but a smart footballer would have just kicked it up the line and out of bounds. Even if he got pinged for deliberate they would have had the ball outside the 50 on the boundary. And it was very soft to let Crameri grab the ball from him and waltz into an open goal rather than stand the mark and make him have a tough shot on the boundary. Very soft.

CORRECT, weak as urine. Though id count the contests he won on one had...tunrs out I didnt have to move my fingers. And to do it aganist the bumber scumbags. Jordan McMahon mk2, only improvment is the facial hair.

Rarely push to position.

No doubt he made an error but his options were limited. It's a snowball effect.
Overall I didn't think Houli was near our biggest problems tonight.

I agree in general except that watching on the telly it wasn't that one but the one about twenty minutes earlier that started the avalanche. When he should have at least made body contact in the marking contest (on the Bombers attacking fifty) but choose to avoid the contact and handed them an easy goal. Momentum is a funny thing, we had a bit. At that moment we lost it and that was all she wrote. I think he has done plenty of good things, and I reckon with a bit of space he is one of our best two disposers of the footy. Dimma has been playing him a bit deeper these last few weeks though and I just don't think you can play that deep while shirking the contested stuff. Maybe that is the point? Maybe Hardwick is trying to get him toughen up a bit?

The turning point in the game, absolutely gave up.

He plays so scared jumping at shadows. He cant perform in night games, there are 4 shadows per player out there, it's very frightening.

Wrong.

Turning point was the PATHETIC kick from the captain to Houli on the 50m arc that went 15m past him straight to Monfries for their 6th goal. After 20 minutes of domination in the 3rd quarter without the required scoreboard pressure, the bombers knew they were a chance and our rudderless lot folded like a deck of cards.

Houli's indiscretion handing them their 8th goal looked bad, but where were the likes of Post, McGuane, etc to give him an option. Pick any one of our defenders and they too would have been caught.

Bachar has been one of our best players this season and has been doing his bit better than most of the other so-called footballers!

Can't believe that poor ol' Bachar's thread here hasn't been bumped after the Herald Sun story, so, do we have many Muslim supporters since his arrival does anyone know ?

Quite enjoyed the story and interview, very quietly spoken, thoughtful kid from what I could see.

Must be quite the challenge I would think to mix those 2 lifestyles.

He signed up over seventy members from friends and family, and apparently a big chunk attend all games

Bit harsh. Crameri played the situation perfectly. Not alot Houli could have done once the free was paid. Credit goes to Crameri for making the most of the opportunity. The initial decision by Houli was poor no doubt, but are we to hang a player for one mistake?

:clap if so, that's great. It really should be the club's job to make the most of us having the only devout Muslim in the AFL in our team. Hopefully the club are doing their bit in this regard too.

FWIW, nearly every Irish person I know who lives in Australia (and I know quite a few) supports either Melbourne or Sydney. A lot of Aussies support Everton in the Premier League because of Timmy Cahill and others support/ed Leeds because of Kewell and Viduka. My Somalian-born taxi driver on Friday night reckoned that loads of his African mates have started following North because of Majak Daw. There's no doubt that RFC has a great opportunity to make inroads into Melbourne's huge Muslim community, if they do their marketing correctly.

Bachar might be a nice Bloke, he might be a smart gut, but that doesn't make him a footballer. I'm sick of reading about Richmond guys who smart, are nice blokes, lovely kids. If they can't play footy they should go put all that Intelligence to good use elsewhere. Thus has been part of the ingrained problem at tigerland for years.

Bachar looks great running lose and with no pressure, but when pressure is on he is found lacking, shirks contests, goes to ground under physical pressure. His effort against Camileri against essendon a few e
Weeks ago was one of the worst efforts I've seen and can't believe people make excuses for that effort. Shocking decision making got him into the situation in the first place. But then to concede the ball and allow camilleri to run into an open goal at such a critical stage of the match was inexcusable. His effort in the game wher Newman put him under the pump was also a shocker. Could have got it off to batchelor but to slow with his decision making, just went to ground and conceded a free. Has conceded plenty of frees going to ground and getting pinged for holding the ball. Knights obviously saw this and hence he couldn't get a game, for me he is soft and will never win a one on one contest. Will not take us forward unless he overcomes his fear of the contest. A person who shirks a contest should never wear the yellow and black. When it yr turn to go u go and if u arent prepared to make the sacrifice then move on.

First of all, I want to know who this 'camilleri guy is. 8)

But seriously, I think if you go and watch that footage again, Helbig gives him a shocking pass that from memory doesn't even make it to him on the full which allows Crameri to close Houli down who then had no options up field and no one came to support him.

And I think it's quite unfair how people constantly have a dig at this bloke for his hardness, I've seen him back into packs on many occasions and put his head over the ball, heck I've seen Deledio skirt the packs a few times but hardly any mention of that.

His job isn't to be a Cotchin or a Martin who goes in under a pack to release the ball, he is a receiver who breaks the lines and hits targets with precision, the club stater several times last year and even Dimma mentioned this when he done a interview on On The Couch last year that we are lacking pace and outside run through the midfield, it's no coincidence that we recruit Conca who can play both in and under and Houli who both have the ability to break the lines with there run and carry and skill.

Houli is doing a mighty fine job for a guy who's played less games then Trent Cotchin and only a few more then Dustin Martin.

Really - bloody look at Delidio- one of our highly paid players.
