Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Re: Bachar "Stand By Your Man" Houli

Hardwick says he'll come straight back in but we have gone 3/4 without him (2 against top 4 sides) & just had our biggest win of the season.
Yes he probably comes straight back in but we've covered him not playing pretty well too..

Re: Bachar "Stand By Your Man" Houli

I don't think he should come straight back in.

Why?

Do we need him?

Re: Bachar "Stand By Your Man" Houli

For the first time in a long time our backline looks complete.
No way should he walk straight back in.
Dumb move from doofus

Re: Bachar "Back in Black & Yellow" Houli

Amazing how those opposition coaches keep tagging such a carp player.

Re: Bachar "Back in Black & Yellow" Houli

Bachar is a 24 touch HBF. How many of them are there in the comp? And a runner, not just a bloke who marks the other side's miskicks and then overcooks it.

He coughs it up? Meh. They all do. Bachar can be spectacular with a fumble or turnover but I think the impact of spectacle is overrated. And his form is good again.

He sometimes panics under the ball? He doesn't panic usually and he'd break a few reputations in half. He stands in the hole.

I'm probably inclined to be a fan but Bachar's numbers tell a very good story. We definitely want him back.

Re: Bachar "Back in Black & Yellow" Houli

I would bring him in but play him in a forward pocket for something different.Seems to be working for Harry Taylor.

The voice of reason Jack.
Not welcome here. We only deal with emotion and unshakable preconceived ideas. Facts are irrelevant. Please don't post any more factual statements

mine swing wildy.

A few months ago, I thought Bashar was a 2nds player.

Now I might back him for the Norm Smith.

Ah yes, the condescending "don't post facts" post. Trouble is Jack didn't post facts just his opinion (which he's very entitled to!)

And I'm a fan of BH.

Re: Bachar "Back in Black & Yellow" Houli

What a joke IF he comes straight back into the team.

We don't miss him.

Broad is younger, has speed and is better one on one which is what we need come finals.

Backwards move bringing in another softie when we already have Grigg and BEllis.

Re: Bachar "Back in Black & Yellow" Houli

We clearly don't miss him especially in the last quarters against Port and GWS where if truth be told he might have made a difference like he did against Freo in 2015.

2 - 10 with Bash in last year 6 -4 with him out.

8 -5 with Bash in this year, 3 -1 without.

At best (or worst) Houli missing is neutral, statistically it's probably a positive. My blood pressure appreciates it.

Don't know why you'd bring him in to a defence which held GWS to 6 goals on the weekend.

Reserves to see if he can get a kick in the middle. Then wait his turn behind Milesy and co.

Just letting Jack know there's someone else out there that values a very important running half back flank although I could argue that an average of 24 disposals a game is a fact.
On a personal note I am perplexed at the relentless denigration of Houli but each to their own.

Lies, damned lies and statistics.

Houli needs to come straight back in.

If it's not facts it's your gut feel, I'll go with the facts. His turnovers are very damaging, he rarely does a job on an opposition forward and his contribution to our scoring thrusts are far more limited than pundits believe. Prove otherwise.

Lead the league for points scored off direct turnovers before he got injured last year. Is only 12th for goal assists at the club this year. Our winning percentage is better when he doesn't play. His numbers tell a story but it's nit good. The less ball he has the better off we are.

Our best backman for score involvements.
We were 3-1 in the 4 games leading up to his suspension. Our only loss in this time was to the all conquering swans.
Our worst half of footy for the year was without him. To a team out of the 8.
Opponents tag him cos they know how important he is.
