Could all members on this blog please email the RFC? This is what I sent them:

Guys,

This decision by the AFL appeals tribunal to overturn their original decision and give 4 weeks to Bachar Houli is a travesty of justice.

The AFL needs to be held accountable for its decisions and this is clearly one that is motivated by media / pubic option again.

The club needs to give serious consideration to appealing this decision in the Supreme Court. The reason they (the AFL) have been so willing to clearly operate an an unfair and biased manner is because they rely on clubs towing the corporate line. It’s time they found out that they need to be accountable to the clubs as well.

This is unjust in the clearest and extremist of terms.

We need to give it back to them, and if we don’t we are accepting their mediocrity for ourselves.

Over many years of injustice in its many forms I have never felt as outraged as I do now. The AFL is a corrupt organisation and if it weren’t for Richmond I’d be gone. Something needs to be done about them.

Regards,

Stewart Parrott

Well said Stewart!!

Once upon a time Richmond would not tolerate such bias against the club. The club would not, and the supporters certainly would not.

The question therefore is: How can we send the AFL a clear message that Richmond cannot be treated in the manner that currently prevails?

The club has to abide by AFL rules (as does the cheer squad etc), so how do we mere members/supporters protest to the AFL?

What would Eddie and colling**** do if they were treated in the same manner?

We await a strong response from Benny.....

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Agree , problem is in the past this club has tended to drop its bundle in situations like this..

would be nice if for once we didn't...

Read the thread, conspiracy theories everywhere, just like reading a bombers fan site.

It's all about race.
It's all about keeping Richmond down.
It's all about Eddies AFL.
It would not have been appealed if it was another team.
And on and on and on, just like bombers fans that think Hird got shafted
Yep, I think we are the only 2 to think this way Rowdy.

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Boycott the 2 extra games he missed? Brisbane at Etihad (not a lot of people like going there anyway) and GWS at the G. Would be interesting to see the G empty on game day

"A blow from a person of exemplary character has just the same impact as a person of bad character."

Pity the same criteria weren't applied to Jobe "Good Bloke" Watson. A convicted drug cheat allowed to decide if and when he returned his ill-gotten medal.

The AFL stinks like a decaying corpse. Admit it.

Yep how does lewis get 3 and houli 4?

Yep, the AFL have somehow even managed to contradict themselves within the same week!

Absolutely farcical this decision and was clearly made before the trial even begun.

Yes that was Jamieson.

We had a similar case with Reece Conca and Adams of Norf in one pre-season.

In both cases, the opposition player had changed direction, and run straight into a bracing Richmond opponent while they had their head on backwards.

The natural reaction is to brace for contact. In my opinion none of these incidents should be viewed in slow motion when coming to a decision on penalty or no penalty as it exadurates the time a player has to react.

In these first two cases, a player should take due care of their own personal safety first and then due care to others. If you run around with your head on backwards on a footy field, then live with the results.

My post when Ty got done for Jamison running into him. My issue stands. Guys whose sole intent is to maim their opponents are getting a slap because they haven't caused a significant injury (or in Lewis's case has) while guys who accidentally have contact with a player that causes injury are being hang, drawn and quartered! Which is the greater evil?

My biggest issue with the weekends MRP outcomes is that Fyfe, Mitchell and Adams actions were malicious and specifically intended to maim their opponent while Vickery 's intent was solely to block a player. How on earth does he then get the bigger suspension and his action seen by most as the bigger evil?!

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Some really good post with passion on here.

Can the RFC appeal this?

Payback as was mentioned for Cotchin.

RFC have to decide to make a stance not only from the corrupt administration of the AFL , other clubs lack of respect, other clubs winging and commenting on our players ( re verdicts ) and become stronger for it.

It starts this week against Port who in the past and bullied us and belted us. The final should in their ears !

As for Houli I think he is made of the right stuff and will be ok. RFC and players should support Houli as I'm sure they will.

We should all support him as well.

Great opportunity has opened now for Markov.

Gutted for Houli and so upset & angry.

Media made sure the AFL had to do something but weak against their love child's & Essendon.

Waitings rant over

Centrebet once wanted to sponsor RFC AFL said no apparently something about they already had a deal with TABCoro? yet Centrebet were allowed to sponsor St. Kilda. Allegedly RFC almost had deal done with Skoda just needed to be signed but AFL stepped in and got Skoda to sponsor GWS. Not long ago Richmond were in early stages of discussions with Hobart about playing a couple of games down there AFL said no they wouldn't schedule Richmond to play there but would prefer North Melbourne.

Alleged that Tony Lockett wanted to come to Richmond but AFL interference wanting him in Sydney saw him go to Sydney. How many teams have finished last yet didn't get the first pick in the draft?

Finally we have how many times has the AFL appealed a tribunal decision yet there are plenty of instances listed in this thread that would also be classed as manifestly inadequate but no action until it is a Richmond player.

Each instance on it's own is not much of a big deal but all added up may suggest an agenda. That I can recall not one of the things I have said have happened to another club let alone all of them.

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Very impressed by the way the club has handled this affair. Did all we could to support Bachar.
No whinging, just pure professionalism. It was the AFL that has come out of this looking amateur.
We have come a long way as a footy club in recent years.

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

The worst but about the Lewis one earlier in the year was it was actually graded as 2 weeks, he only got the 3rd due to his carry over bad boy points. Is Houlis seriously worth double the punishment?

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

I want to summarise my feelings, and move on.

1. The AFL are a bunch of *smile*s. I hope Gil McLachlan stacks a polo pony into a fence and ruptures his sphincter and scalps himself and a richmond surgeon sews his *smile* into his head, and the pony is unscathed.

2. Beat Port *smile*ing Adelaide. Hell, beat them by 11 goals

3. Go Oleg

4 don't let em get to you bachar

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Houli will play this week.

Will shave off his beard, wear a wig and don Stengle's guernsey for the next 4 rounds.

*smile* the AFL. Even when we manouver a win like Tuesday we end up behind.

Like JB said, never thought everyone had it in for RFC. You start to wonder after the past month or so.

The positive though. Because of the racism and bigotry in this country it is likely a better result for Bachar long term.

He was very very likely to cop a lot of hatred and booing if the 2 weeks stood tonight.

Now that 4 has been handed down the media tornado will subside and he should be able to return unimpeded.

Sad as it is, that is the truth.

Yes we are so racist and bigoted, it's a horrible place. Poor Bachar is bereft of opportunities in this country the racism is so bad.
Cannot agree. Better to get 4 because he might cop a few boos..? Come on, that is real glass-half-full stuff.
Bachar is a well paid highly regarded professional, not a victim.

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

I remember Brereton lining up Des Ryan off the ball and sending him off unconscious on a stretcher (minutes after Czerkaski's jaw was broken). Brereton was found not guilty, with Tribunal head Simon Madden saying "I'm wary of making it into a wishy-washy game". Yet the current lot can't be trusted to hand down a carefully-considered penalty.

Henwood/McIntosh/Neitz, give it away fellas. Your reputations have been shredded.

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Seriously though the only reason i can see that the AFL wanted 4 weeks because they dont want Houli being booed every game for the next 3 years. That would not be good for the AFL or Houli.

If there is a shred of evidence in that, which I don't think there is, then they have acted in a racist manner - treated him differently because of his race. Far worse than any booing..

Ironic hey..??

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

What *smile* me is the AFL could have orchestrated an increase to 3 weeks and it would have placated the lynch mobs and have been pretty much accepted by most RFC members.

Instead they go too far again and just *smile* things up.

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

The afl appealed against its own court's decision

Farce of the highest order
