Handled the ridiculous fiasco with absolute class Bash.

Houli is not the victim here, his dog act was not class it was thuggery. (think Campbell Brown)

If some player did this to one of ours you would be saying he got his just desserts.

Buddy tried to do it last week, but managed to just miss Menadue's head so nothing happened. That was a dog act, not what Houli did in an effort to get an opponent to let go of his bloody jumper, so he could receive the ball. If the umpire had done his job and called Lamb for holding then we'd all have something else to whinge about.

Nah it was a 2 week suspension. The air sirens and squealers have to remain relevant somehow. They got their way. Cop it on the chin and move on. respect for houli has increased in terms of sending a clear message that we mean business on field and the way he handled the squealers.

Well done Bachar for knocking out the cheating scum. Let's see if he tries to scrag you next time. Time for some more unsociable tigers to step up and show we mean business. There needs to be more of this from our players. We need to be feared again.
Damn straight.
Been calling for this for a while.
Still love TV just for knocking out that scragging sook in Cox.
We stole the 4 points and the entire footy world hated us.

I've never thought the AFL have it in for us. That makes no sense as we draw so well. It's just that they are completely spineless, particularly under their current leader Gil.

The issue is the media. They HATE Richmond and love us failing as it adds to the 30 odd years of our 'stuff ups and infighting'. The media revel on this. If we find success, what do they then write about, after all , if we draw huge crowds, we also sell papers. You just have to read post game reports, even when we've had decent wins, they will always find a negatice angle on us. Every pre season they build us up and build us up, but then at the end of the story is the consequences if we "fail yet again"! They are setting in place the framework for the story before it's unfolded.

The problem with Gil is that he just isn't a leader, which you'd typically think of as an Alpha Male type. If Gil was in prison, he'd be so far down the alpha order, the line behind him in the shower would include about 3 or 4 vowels
So when the media circus comes to town whose the one scared of the clowns, oh that would be Gil

This I agree with.

A close relative worked in the sports department of a great metropolitan Melbourne newspaper for a while. The sports editor made sure that this person understood the three (and there were only three) sports stories that had any impact on circulation. These were negative stories about Richmond and Collingwood and positive stories about Essendon. If they razz on the Tigers or the Magpies, everybody wants to read about it. Conversely, a negative headline about Essendon will turn Essendon fans right off and they are very likely to walk away from the newsagents in tears. Or close down their web browser in disgust.

Keep this in mind when you look at their headlines, you will see it almost every day.

Wow. I'm sure you haven't seen the incident...

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Bugg just punched a swans player in the face.

Watch him get 2 and no AFL appeal.

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Boy oh boy, wowee! Tom Bugg just drops a Sydney player off the ball with a left to the head. BT says that's worse than Houli's.

Over to you, AFL.

One week with an early plea.

This will be interesting. Clearly intentional, clearly high. watch them argue impact to avoid a 4 week suspension

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

The tribunal will hang him, they'll want to be seen as though they've always been tough and hard on these types of acts and that he gets the same treatment as Houli.

Bugg is so stupid, he's picked the worst week to hit someone in the head.

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Insufficient force to constitute a strike. $1500 fine, that the afl will lend them to give back to the afl.
The MRP will apologise, the afl will deem that as manifestly inadequate, so the MRP will apologise with a glycerine tear.
They'll then all walk hand holding hands.

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Bugg just highlighted why the AFL should not have appealed for the first time in their history.
The very next day their system is given a test it cannot pass.
Whatever Bugg is handed will be subject to being manifestly wrong one way or another.
Fools.

No matter what, he's going to stack up badly alongside Houli.

Houli was trying to break a tackle, it was clearly out of character and he issued a genuine apology.

What's Bugg going to do? Threw a punch off the ball and it wasn't out of character. Any apology is going to sound hollow.
