Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

I want to know why Houli's main plan is always to run really hard down the middle of the ground, and then kick it really hard to No-one.

It's amazing watching him at the ground. It's like he actually can't see our players.

I tend to agree. He is still great value with his run and carry but he seems to like to bomb long at times without really hitting up a targets. Still a good player for us, and overall solid game

I'd rather know why we've rarely got a forward who'll lead up to Houli when he's opening up the ground as he does. Even if our forwards are not all pressed up the ground creating a traffic jam we rarely have a forward make a long lead from deep up to the ball carrier. It's nearly always sideways or round in circles which means the ball carrier has to guess which fancy moves are coming instead of just putting a bullet straight onto the tit.

.... over the journey I've seen him ignore lots of leads especially if lesser knowns like Gordon lead in preference for the long bomb to our more experienced. Not sure if that's a lack of confidence in his own passing abilities or the kids screaming for the ball. Either way it's irritating as is his right kicking foot which was clearly lost sometime back in his childhood. Thought he played ok last night though. :)

For the Houli haters;

Time and again they shredded the Blues through the second and third quarters, led by Ellis and Bachar Houli.

We had a crazy 15 minutes where the Tigers caged the Blues; and when the Blues coughed it up, the Tigers mauled them through the corridor.

In the end, Houli had 665m gained off a back flank, which is elite, and Ellis had 364m.

Both of them had 18 uncontested possessions, which was the equal second-most of any player on the ground.

Possessions in the corridor were 11 of 19 for Houli and 12 of 26 for Ellis.

This will kill Carlton coach Mick Malthouse, but total possessions won uncontested were Houli 95 per cent and Ellis 69 per cent.

The numbers make Houli’s game better than first thought.

Ha. Said something similar last night.

When was the last time Richmond won a game with Deledio, Martin & Cotchin got under 20 touches?

Sign of a maturing side. Crushed early but turned the game with our pressure and owning the corridor. Houli & Ellis in particular were spectacular in their ability to be the release man in space. We are attacking in 2015, get the turnover and use the corridor with space & pace. We kicked 9.15 from turnovers. If that's 13.11 it's a comfortable win. But closing the gap so quickly was what I enjoyed. Turn the game when we were down is something new. Good signs.

I'm a huge Houli fan. Would get a game in every side.

Thought Houli was in our best 5 or 6 last night.

Great run and carry and rebounding from defence.

Worked extremely hard.

It's always great seeing Bash run and sprint with the ball across the wing, but I like it better when he slams home the goals from 50m+ out in this action. Tiva style. ;D

I love Bash but his continued one sidedness is terribly frustrating, so often stopping to get on the left. If he had a right foot he'd be elite.

Has become a good solid B grader.....one of our most consistent players

I think that's a very harsh assessment, he's in the top half dozen rebounding defenders in the game. I'll make a bold prediction, I think Houli can make the AA top 40 this year, I see him challenging Malceski & Smith for the heavy weight title.

Nothing wrong with a B grader Bully, IMHO Cotch, Rance, Lids, Dusty, Jack are our only A graders, Houli would be on the next wrung for me.... I hope your right with AA it's one area we don't have much depth in at this point an Basher is crucial to our run out of the back half, plus he defensive game has improved immensely

Why isn't this thread front and centre.

rubbish defensively and rubbish offensively.

Those at the ground today would have seen Dogs well positioned in their press and zones and thius is when a so called user of teh ball is needed.

Missed options all day and then missed targets.

Dead cert to play next week and the week after that!

Wasn't as bad as you're making out. Certainly not as good as last week but an important cog to the Tiger's side.
