Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Would still like to see him released from the bavkline to the "wing" so that he could then use his long kicking and (alleged) foot skills to send us forward.

If I could use a comparison be like Isaac Smith.
That's where I's also like to see him play. He'd probably kick more goals from there too.

Houli started this year on the wing and was found wanting. Across half back he is often given the luxury of being the loose man. On the wing you need to compete more and that is not his go.

Re the bachar academy, what an oustanding young man. Tigers have been very lucky to have some quality characters around the club in the last few years.

We've got a good record: king white Jacko Deledio foley
I think King and Deledio both won it. Foley would have if they hadn't made it a handicap that year. He gave away a heap of ground to Fev and still nearly finished over the top of him. Not sure about White. Nahas ran it one year and looked like he was running backwards.

I assume it is an AFL directive that each club has to provide a runner and it looked like Houli drew the short straw and just went through the motions. Not a knock just how it looked to me.

2005 Lids
2006 King
2007 Foley robbed
2008 White

pleased to see Bachars program get more funding to expand the game further into somewhat maligned communities. nothing helps more than a sense of belonging and what a great way to move things forward.

Still think GWS made a critical error not going after Houli and overpaying.

don't get why you would say that now Scoop? is it because part of Houlis program partly targets Western Sydney? i was making reference to something positive and you and Kurtz go sideways.

No mate, complete opposite. Houli is a tremendous asset on and off the field. If I was GWS with the large muslim community in the west, I move heaven and earth to get him.

It's a bloody massive no brainer isn't it scooper? To think we got him virtually freebies off Esserdope, then to listen to Bachar speak n see his involvement in developing links in the community is a massive bonus not just for the Tiges but for Aussie rules footy and the community in general.
Someone like Bachar could have had a massive influence for AFL in Sydney's west, but they went the other way n used a rugby league player to try n make a convert option when there's very little likelihood of converting many rugby fans. Would be more advantage to search amongst those not suited to rugby's size n power, more athletic or soccer, or basketball build type youngsters.

Mainly because of my Backround I see alot of kids that are now 9-10 years old who are Richmond supporters who's parents either dont follow AFL or support other teams mainly due to Bachar Houli playing for and promoting the Richmond Football Club

The Benefits of what Bachar Houli has done for the Tigers will be long lasting, At a conservative guess i would say melbourne wide there would be 2000 muslim kids from the Lebanese,Sudanese,Arabic,Turkish,Albanian backrounds now wearing the Yellow/Black

These kids are growing up following afl and the tigers and will become members 1 day

That's great to read. Thanks for sharing.

He cops a lot of stick on this forum, for the way he plays his footy, but has a role to play and I think, does it well.

His work off the field has been outstanding in this area and is true gentlemen and leader in the Muslim community and a great ambassador for the RFC and AFL in general.

Well done Bachar.
