Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Bachar has made a few mistakes but it's hard when you're the only backline player willing to run and take the game on is hard trying to cover for blokes like newman and the less said about Batchelor 1 disposal game the better .

Yeah he really was forced to take up the slack when other team mates went missing. Batchelor was extremely disappointing.

I know it is easy to criticise behind my laptop but I think he is the worst performing player at the RFC.
Go Tiges 2015
I also criticise him from behind my laptop but he is not the worst performing player at RFC. In the final he was close to our best despite the missed bounce. At least he had the ball and was running not many of the others had touched it by then.

+1

To those wrapping up Bachar, why do opposition coaches never ever try and put a defensive tag on him given he is one of our main outlets from defense? I've never heard any opposition coach talk of shutting down Bachar. They don't mind him getting the ball because he's not very damaging, especially under pressure. Add to that an inability in the one on one's, his complete one-sidedness and a lack of ability to shut down opponents and you've got a guy who has elite endurance but is average everwhere else. Massive upgrade required in this role.

Don't necessarily disagree, but at least half the side fares worse than Houli. Deledio and Ellis are the two that I would tag.

Doesn't win too many but usually breaks even. For the running type he is, that's good enough.

I have heard stats quoted on this (ie I am sure I read Dusty wins more than half his one on ones) I would love top see Bachar's stats - reckon he would lose at least 60-70% of the genuine contests. He choses to go to ground too often.

Do you think for the running type he is that he does enough with the ball? That he has enough speed "line-breaking" speed?

He's never been quick. Was more constructive last year when we moved the ball faster and teammates provided options upfield. Don't think his kicking was as good this year either.

He is what he is, generally plays near his optimum given his limitations.

No where near our worst defender. There are a couple of others eg Morris who performed worse and need to be replaced before Bacher although I hope one day in the not to distant future that his current skill level insufficient to earn a place in the side

at the game, i thought he had a shocker, thought he tried hard but everything he touched went wrong.
watching the replay changed my mind. yes he made a couple of obvious mistakes, but overall played a decent game, kept running and was involved in most of our few good plays. he was one of our best (admittedly without much competition.)

Our runner in the GF sprint.

I wonder were he sits pace wise at the club? I think Lids would be the fastest and then I can't think of any others who are real quick.

Foley once upon a time think Big Ben Griffiths can get up and going Morris Gordon possibly

I reckon Gordon would be quick!

Would still like to see him released from the bavkline to the "wing" so that he could then use his long kicking and (alleged) foot skills to send us forward.

If I could use a comparison be like Isaac Smith.
