Assistant Coach Wish List

One-eyed Tiger said:
FWIW read a paragraph about Royal in the Property section of The Age 2-3 weeks ago.

From memory he'd either sold his house in Brighton (mansion by the look of it) or was putting it on the market.

Coincidence or conspiracy?

It is in Black Rock, near my parents. And can confirm it is one big freakin' house!!

Strong word is one of the assistants has had a tap on the shouler......My source has gone missing though so I cant confirm at this stage

One name Nathan Buckley everytime I hear him he impresses me more last night he was saying he thinks a lot of sides don't train hard enough to break through that pain barrier during pre season because of the rotations. Our hierarchy should offer him what ever he wants to work part time with our midfielders keep his media commitments would love him working with Cotchin Foley Deledio Coughlan Tuck Edwards Meyer White etc.

For me I would hope we are looking very closely at Michael Barlow. He has taken Werribee to a grand final in the VFL. This no small feat, considering the they aren’t aligned to any AFL team.

I like the idea of Barlow too.

Maybe also a recent retiree like Ziebel, Jonas, Hurn

Also an older head like Ratten, Pyke etc

Smoking I thought of the same thing when I heard him speak this afternoon.

He has taken a VFL side, not aligned to any AFL side, a PT program, no AFL experience players to a GF.

Granted the task will be huge Sunday but he deserves tremendous kudos .

Would love him at the RFC.

Gary Ayres won two flags at Port Melbourne. Barlow is being rightly lauded for his job at Werribee but what Ayres did was phenomenal.
As an aside I am pretty sure the duck Nick Daffy coaches at Werribee with Barlow?

Barlow is a Shepp boy as well as Yze. In the unlikely event Steven King were to join as well it would make the trifecta.

Yeah Daffy is assistant coach there.

I loved the motivation he uses when coaching. Very Richmond like.

I think Ratten could be good in some kind of advisory role - quite unusual to have a twice sacked coach who fans of both those clubs speak highly of. Probably would have been at Hawthorn around the same time as Yze?

Here’s a few recently departed names for consideration. No real idea what any of them are like or whether they’re available but food for thought.

Phil Davis
David Mundy
Robbie Gray
David Astbury
Gary Ablett Jnr
Harry Taylor

Whatever happens we must keep Kane Lambert
