Andrew 'Mini' McQualter

Newy or Yze for me. Mini, seems like a nice bloke but I rate Macrea and Kingsley better and I'm sure if they were still around no one in their right mind would have Mini ahead of those two. Let's have a clean out and bring in new people plus a new strength and conditioning coach.

I’d like someone who hasn’t been at the club previously, or currently, in any sort of coaching capacity.

I think Mini might err on the side of harsh with players. I don't think he's nice at all. (That I hate nice is incidental in this matter.)

I'm not seeing nice to players in Mini. In the pressers.

Results driven? Yes.

In game I'm seeing stratagems. Traps. Tactics, week-to-week.

Strategy? I'm not seeing that. Not to say there isn't that.

Corporate animal? I am seeing that. Corporate survivor.

Insecure? I've seen that. Gauche in pressers. Trying a bit too hard.

Nice to journalists (if you could call them that)? Mocks them. Combative. Likey.

This guy is, insofar as I can observe, creative and perverse. And inclined to errors of judgement. Looks interesting. Hardwick was like that.

A work colleague of mine who went to CFD Grammar said Mini snotted another kid playing u18. School covered it up, so he could get drafted.
I said I think Mini is too nice when I answered did I want him as coach. "Nice?" He spat out. "Mini McQualtar is a *smile* *smile*."
It's a nice story, I'd love if someone here who went to CFD Grammar could validate it, because I can't see it.

I get Wallace vibes from him. Coaches for the now. We need someone who will coach for the future and is prepared to take the hit to their reputation in doing it.

They were saying on SEN this morning that Yze is basically the match day coach at Melbourne and has been for some years now.

Apparently does all the match day tactical stuff.

To me it sounds like we have 3 pretty good candidates for the job. A lot is going to depend on how the club sees itself and how honest the candidates are about that.

Newey has already proven he is prepared to be brutally honest when he believes things aren’t right, Mini should have a very good handle on where we’re at as well.

Love to know Gale’s perspective

Match day is just one element of a senior coach's role. Will depend on how he is at building and managing relationships with the players, the coaches etc. How good is he at developing a game plan, what is his vision for the gameplan needed for the future etc

That is what I want to see also. A game plan just like Dimma had in our premiership years, not the same of course but a game plan that works.
For mine, we have not had a workable game plan for some time. Hate the long kicks to the forward line and hope for the best.
Without a proper FF this year, guess that was what we had to do. Also, the new coach needs to fix the centre clearance problems.
My thoughts for the day, after a glorious 3 weeks in sunny downtown Mooloolaba.

Seems to be a tag team role now days with Football.
Once is the tatical coach and the other is the relationship, motivator coach.
If we get Yze for tatical then we need an assistand who is a great player motivation.

Can the other aspects of coaching be delegated? Because Yze strikes me to not having the complete skillet of a head coach.

Yze will never be a senior coach those inside coaching world say his brilliant game day and 1 on 1 but lacks the ability in a group
