Not sure there was anything he could do. Move the under-performing players around? Unlikely to make a difference.

DS
Agree. Interesting comment on Pickett: "He was OK for a mental point of view, but whether he played a great game or not, he had some mates with him".

Not fussed if Mini gets the gig or not , one bad performance shouldn’t make the decision final, he’s got another 2 months , in saying that there’s potentially plenty of great candidates.

What I do want to see is Ryan, Cumberland, Clarke continue to play , Graham to go back into the middle , Banks to get senior footy on the wing . Miller and Ross to go back to the VFL , ive seen enough , both not up to it imho . Bradke, Bauer I don’t really care , let’s have a look at another kid up forward .

Forgetting the Pickett saga, how long since he’s played a decent AFL game in any position.

I think will bounce back at the G next week , love to see Banks and Brown debut
Have we debuted anyone this year?

My personal opinion is if you’ve never coached a team outright (AFL/State League) you should never be even considered. Being an Assistant is nothing to being the main man and dealing with the issues that arise. And I don’t count caretaker coach in that category.

The caretaker honeymoon is over. Mini has the rest of the year to show what he has. Some winnable games from here until we play the next top 4 team in Melbourne. Will see how we go over that block of games and how we play against the Demons

A witches hat is a witches hat, regardless of where you place them on the ground.

The trouble last night is that we had 15 or 16 witches hats out there, it’s hard to make moves that work when so many players looked flat and slow and were smashed in their one on one battles.

Next week will tell a story whether our season is over or not.

I get where you are coming from , but sometimes you have to take the risk , one of the main concerns when we got Hardwick
was "he's good with the U18's , what will he be like with seniors ?"
assistants leaving our club Rutten - No McRae - yes Kingsley - looking like a yes
Things didn't go well for Leppa at Brisbane , but the Lions were a real basket case so don't know how you would fairly rate that one ?

just watched his presser .really impressive ..........short shape .no BS focus on 'how good the lions were' no excuses .lasted no more than 5-6 mins .in and out nothing to see here.......professional ......looked calm in control .not emotional ......I liked it ......but can he coach?? .I would yes yes ..he found out last night what kind of team he has got .he is no fool

Not a bad idea to announce the two debutants this early in the week. Right in time for the AFL360 debut as caretaker coach for Mini.

Speaks well especially with Blobbo's questions. Mini must have a fearsome face to look at coz Blobbo looks a bit scared.

Very good first up interview. Owned the coaches box tonight. The move of Vlastuin was genius like.

Full credit to Mini.
At the presser, Mini said it was a group decision to play Nick V forward.
Did not try to take the personal glory for the choice.
Mini's maturity and stability hold him in good stead as our next senior coach.
