Andrew 'Mini' McQualter

Doing OK. Was particularly impressed at the way he has instilled the grit, desperation and determination in defence in the last few minutes to deny the Swans and give us time to break away. Under Dimma we would ball watch

Damien is the greatest Richmond coach in 50 years, from 1967 to 2017.
One of the greatest football coaches of all time.
We need a coach from Damien's group.
Most assistants have betrayed the club and taken the 20 pieces of silver.
Mini has remained steadfast and loyal.
He bears Dimma's influence to a certain degree, but is his own person none the less.
Like Brendon says, he evolves as coach.

Firstly I’d like to say I agree with Brendan Gale when he says he likes to see a coach grow with the group. Suffer adversity, come out stronger.

This makes much more sense than getting in a highly regarded veteran on big coin who will demand immediate respect. It doesn’t work that way anymore.

Secondly, what Mini has done with our forward line is nothing short of extraordinary. This part of our game has been a basket case in 2023, a cobbled-together mess.

Injury, poor form, lack of height, lack ground ball, lack of mobility, lack of cohesion, lack of consistency.

To coach this group into winning scores with such poor resourcing in that forward 50 is testament to Mini’s coaching ability.

We have a real coach here.

Whether or not Mini is the right man for the job, if he keeps winning, there's no way they can employ anyone else.

How could another person come in and presume to offer anything more than what were seeing? System, belief and results.

All another candidate can say is, 'That. I'll do that.'

If he makes finals, he's got the job. And probably even if we don't.

Throwing Vlastuin forward to man their plus one when we were 2 goals down in the 3rd - well it took some balls and showed his nous. Loved it.
Yep so many teams have dudded us with that spare back that we always seemed to just ignore. Not sure Dimma puts seven forward.

Noah’s intercepting, young improving and the. Locks in broad and grimes make this a very possible move.

Yep and yep. As much as my hatred for what Fly's doing at Scumwood builds, I'll be looking forward to seeing what Mini can do (if he becomes coach) against them next time we meet. We had chances to beat them under Dimma in R3, but with changes under Mini, who knows....

Expected to win and win big today.
As Aints and Port have shown nothing is certain when you are favourite.
Will take a Major hit to his bonafides if we drop this.
A Maxi Test awaits for Mini today.
See what I did there?

Classic game of Coach killer should we find a way to lose.

Issued his presser. Did he say anything about MRJ? Or our generally poor performance?

He didn’t give too much away regarding MRJ other than it’s natural for a player to be pissed off after being subbed. As for our performance he said we didn’t play well. Eagles played a faster game than we expected and got good use through the middle of ground.

Mini was okay with the MoJu "disappointment" at being subbed. I'm not sure there was much in it. I imagine Mini would prefer an intense response to a tepid one.

I expect MoJu to get some extended development time in the Magoos now. FWIW he may take a week to adjust to the demotion. He usually does.

On our performance he was ok with the scrappy win, jb. Noted the return of experienced players to the WCE squad. He said that "we" were surprised by their quick aggressive ball use. And their attack through the corridor.

He was by no means pleased with our standard of football but was philosophical.

My take is that we were there to grind a win with no physical tax. No injury. Controlled games for geriatrics. Mini said point blank that he thought the coaches and team had a good day.

Played at GC with Caddy, Prestia, & Lunch in 2012. Played in our vfl side for two years from 2014 as a development coach and then went on as an assistant from 2016.

Doesn’t waffle on in his pressers that’s for sure. Yes, No, thanks guys
Gives them nothing. I like it.

I pray at the altar of Dimma, but that was one of his faults in that he would talk so much that he would invariably say something controversial.
