yeah, think he's a bit OTT about the gun controls, but generally he's got some valid views on the corrupt US govt, globalisation, mass media, 911 etc.

I'm not a big fan of guns but I don't mind this guy's world view on quite a lot of things.

Zbigniew Brzezinski, he's the bloke you have to worry about. He and his mates at the CFR are the ones who start all the wars.

First time I've come across 'paleoconservatism' Evo. I guess that covers your philosophy somewhat?

Re: America, will they ever learn?

A little I suppose. Although, I don't think 'tradition' is that important.

Will never happen in the States unfortunately.

Re: America, will they ever learn?

For the USA, there is more wrong than just its gun policy.

It provides no support for for those that fall behind.
Even if you work legitimately, there is no supported medical coverage.
It provides little or no future for its youth.

Its history is great, though.

Like all crumbled ancient empires of the past, it provides excellent tourist attractions.

Ha ha...I've just finished reading the second Jack Reacher book and it revolves around a group of Montana "militia" trying to secede from the union claiming World Government conspiracy....

Wrong. There is a limited welfare system.

Even if you work legitimately, there is no supported medical coverage.

Wrong. Many employers provide health plans. Or did you mean something else?

It provides little or no future for its youth.

That makes no sense dude.

Its history is great, though.

Like all crumbled ancient empires of the past, it provides excellent tourist attractions.

It's still the most powerful nation on the planet.

Crap. In today's USA,

Welfare systems can only be found in some overcrowded cities, not all states.

With the latest post GFC laws, employers need not provide health benefits until after 3 years service.

I know of a 25yo girl who legitimately works full time as an engineer for the New York City Council.
She get $15 per hour, no benefits.

In New York, middle class working families are forced into selling drugs. Yes, white families!
Sorry, middle class American is an oxymoron, there is no longer a middle class in America.

Not the last battle, but tell me the last war the USA won?
Cold War - still in progress, but looks like the USSR/Russia has "re-branded" and taken the new lead economically.
Afghanistan - still in progress
Iraq - still in progress
Vietnam - won by North Vietnam
Korea - draw
WW2 - woo-hoo an American win, only 68 years ago.

Funny, you said "no support".

Why does this offend you more than black middle-class families selling drugs?

Sorry, middle class American is an oxymoron, there is no longer a middle class in America.

I think you will find that, actually, there is a middle class in America. Depends on how you define it of course, but the middle class definitely exists dude.

Not the last battle, but tell me the last war the USA won?

You missed out on the first Gulf War by the way. You also obfuscate winning wars with "winning the peace" - which they have had troubles with in recent times. Still the most powerful military-industrial complex in the world though.

Cold War - still in progress, but looks like the USSR/Russia has "re-branded" and taken the new lead economically.

You are seriously comparing a developing economy with the US economy, even in crisis? You'd be better off using China as an example but you can't as you strangely want to relate the Cold War to the Russian economy.

You did save the best til last though - your claim that "It provides little or no future for its youth". Care to define what that even means? I'll give you one clue - the US spends MORE per capita on education than any other country in the world.

Re: America, will they ever learn?

I normally agree with most of your posts Michael.
But this time I disagree.
Yes, the USA is currently depressed and its budget is way out of whack and growth has stalled.
And yes, their health care is not as good as ours.
But they are still the worlds number one economy and military, and when they sneeze the rest of us get the flu.
Finally, take a guess who Australia would turn to and rely on if we were ever invaded by China (for example).

Yes, describing real examples given to me by actual Americans, who are lamenting the break down of their way of life that they estimate the decline began in the 1970s.

The stereotypes of American crime are clearly broken. In America the rules of the game are that you can do anything to survive.

Why didn't I mention the 1st Gulf War? Was there a first Gulf war, or was there a larger Gulf War that began with Bush Snr is still continues today?

Relating this to the other thread on US gun laws, there are a lot of problems in the USA today, guns laws are just one of many problems.

Crime rates have dropped enormously in the US (as in Australia). The violent crime rate, the homicide rate and property crime rate are all about all about half of what they were a decade ago. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_the_United_States#Crime_over_time

Generalisations and anecdotal evidence don't cut it fellah.
