Alex Rance

Personally think thats quite the stretch Rosy........... this past Saturdays game was so far and beyond anything in the past its not even close.

That may be so but all players can chuck in a blinder every now and again. We'd all like every one of them to do it every week but that rarely happens. I still think Alex has been reasononably consistent in an inconsistent team. Do you think he has competed well against his opponents most weeks? if not which ones have pantsed him? He's been getting a scattering of votes througout the season. Not regularly 3 votes admittedly but I think the coaches would be very happy with his progress in a backline that often sees far more of the ball than desired.

Certainly the Bulldogs game is more of an outlier in terms of Rance's form this year than the Essendon game.

I'd be happy for Rancid to play every week and never get a vote in any award going Rosie, just nullify his opponent and go full bore at the nut, that would do very nicely.
I don't recall him being pantsed so to speak but its more of his general play that I've found myself questioning his performances Rosie.
Plays like last week where he missed not once, but twice, balls that should have been touched for minor scores, that isn't on anyone else or caused by anyones failures up ground....... if he can improve in the common sense area's then maybe he can be a player.

The fact he plays in a backline that "see's plenty of the ball" as you put it, is really neither "here nor there" ......... are you saying that the other 12 guys on the field aren't doing enough to keep the ball in the other 2/3rds of the ground ?........ because from what Ive read in here that would mean being critical of our mids and onballers who according to many are as good if not in the elite class of the AFL these days !!

Like I have previously stated, if the kid puts together games consistently then I'll be more than happy to admit I was overly zealous in judging the guy, but thats still in the future and something we can go back and forth on forever, lets assess his position at seasons end and see how he's looking.

unfortunately for Rance his earlier appearances when he arrived are still
lingering in the minds of some which is totally understandable
up to him now find the consistenancy moving forward
because you can bet your bottom dollar when he under performs and it
could come as early as this coming week we will all know about it...

one game at a time...for young Rancey as well as the supporters i feel.

Rance's biggest problem has always been his decision making. If he can rectify that then the Tigers have at least one key defender.

watch closer, he already has

At the time of the Carlton loss, Rance's 26th game, he had experienced just 2 wins - a club record low. Up to 6/31 now. Maybe he can emulate Roger Dean, who was 3 from 26 at one point.

Should have traded to Hawthorn last year when they were keen. He aint gonna make it no brains and no skill. The end of this year will be great when we complete the transformation and the list is finally turned over and made into Hardwicks team. One way or another Simmonds Mc mahon White King Polak Edwards Hislop Thomson Cousins and Graham will all be gone !! I look forward to the revamped list
Bump!! Thank goodness some on here aren't list managers.

Congrats to Rance on responding to Dimma's call for improvement in the defenders this week ... played the game on his life and showed much improved confidence with the ball in his hands.

If he continues his improvement he will be a good 3rd defender for us. Mcguane seems to be travelling well at fullback but atm we really need Astbury to come good ... however there is no rush for that to happen. As Rance doesnt have the size to be a key defender, we need Astbury to eventually hold down center half back, which im confident he will.

Astbury listed as 195 cm and 92kg. Rance 194 cm and 93 kg .

Rance has the size to play KPD . He tends to hunch a little which probably makes him look shorter than he is .

I swear those official height listings are suss..... Jack Riewoldt is apprently nearly Nick Riewoldt's size. How the?

still would prefer rance as the attacking 3rd tall defender, plays much better when allowed to be a bit creative and not purely focus on defending
