Alex Rance

I just love his flexibility. In Grimes and Rance you have guys who can be competitive against talls but absolutely dominate the mid sized flankers in the air and on the lead because they give up nothing in speed and athleticism. Wasn't tested much with high kick ins which was due to our midfield pressure (and poor Essendon play) so it played perfectly into his hands where he could just sprint off the big guys. If this guy gets better with the high ball coming in then look out. Will just wear out forwards having to chase his butt all day and he sprints off them.

Perhaps we could keep this improvement in mind next time we want to abuse a kid on the internet for not being the finished article.

Contritely, hear hear.

Turned around last weeks game in the best possible way.

As others have said his best game for the club. Great stuff.

Unbelievable!! Alex Rance is fearless, & the same goes for Trent Cotchin & Dylan Grimes.

has credited much of his improvement with the work Justin Leppicth (excuse the spelling) has been doing with him. Teaching him how to play full back.

That is great to know. Well done Lepper. Well done Alex.

Superb game from Rance, his spoiling and defensive pressure took me back to the 80's when hard and tough fullbacks roamed the field. This could well be the turning point in Alex's career because finally he seems to have found a confidence which has been lacking throughout his brief tenure. Disposal was excellent last night, as was his spoiling which clearly rattled the opposition into fearing an oncoming freight train heading their way. If there's one key area Rance and the coaching staff need to work on, it's contested marking for that's what it will take to become a premier fullback of the ilk of Scarlett or Lake (pre-chunky guts of course). But in saying that I firmly believe we have witnessed a breakout game much the same as we have found extra reserves of skill and application in the likes of Nahas and King. Hats off to Rance on a spectacular game.

Best game for the year by far. Makes a difference to the team when your full back dominates games.

Showed great improvement this year and it was his best game for the club last night. Eventually the Tiges would want him to be our 3rd defender. Mcguane at full back, Astbury center half back and Grimes as our 3rd/4th defender. Grimes will be the guy who will play on smalls and talls. Mcguane will take the monster full forwards. Astbury take care of the athletic big center half forwards and Rance to share the load. Have newman, Batchelor and Houli and co to provide the run off the backline.

So brave last night.
Put his body in and made some goal saving tackles.

Defense coming together.

Batch,Grimes,Rance all had good games.

Gor those of you to young to remember Francis Bourke. Alex Rance gave you a good impersination last night.

God I hope that wasn't a flash in the pan but a bench mark performance.

BIG BIG UPS ALEX!!!!

great game from rance, ive been praising his efforts this year and he's really started to shine the young lad :clap

His skills have improved 10 fold and his body strength and marking are other features of his game which have improved immensely

Rance is courageous, fearless with a never give up attitude.
Keep it up Alex, we may have just found our new full back.

Rance certainly did "come of age" last night, a most courageous, disciplined and dedicated performance that I have not seen from a Richmond defender in quite some time. Keep it up Alex and all the detractors who have not rated you and been quick to bag you will have to find another whipping boy. Alex Rance is a "very" good footballer and I know that every week he's a part of our defence we've got some of the strength, commitment and courage we need to succeed.
