I am a big critic of Rance but he looked different tonight. For the first time I will put my hand up and say he played a great game. I noted only one bad handball and he generally looked more like he knew what he was doing. Ran up the ground creatively a couple of times too. Still in negative points for the season IMO but this is a step in the right direction. :clap. I hope this is the turning point.

have tp agree, never really rated him but tonight was great

I am not the biggest Rance supporter....but he did play the best game I've probably ever seen from him.
Other than the kick into the back half under no pressure and missing the target by 10 metres....he was pretty good.

Best game he has played. Great running too , pushing forward to stretch the Lions

Was great tonight. Maybe he's starting to live up to the junior hype. Improved out of sight. He's marking the ball well overhead which was my biggest concern in previous years with him.

Hope he doesn't go for that hit. Watched it on the replay and it was high although it looked like he genuinely went for the ball and was unlucky. He's pretty goofy and can lose control of his limbs here and there. I hope the MRP see that. :help

Agree with all and sundry tonight - played well. Probably the best game he's played for us.

Steady, suprisingly reliable and actually took a couple of overhead marks (!!).

I'm hoping it's not just a once off, but he needs to string a bunch of good games together, without making stupid mistakes before I change my mind on him as a whole.

Good game though tonight - hope he proves me wrong.

Same here.
I've never been convinced by him - but he's proved me wrong.
Well done Alex.

Yep easily his best game tonight. He kept his opponent in check and used the ball OK most of the time. Only saw one really horrendous mistake in the 3rd quarter where he missed an easy target in the backline by the length of the Flemington straight.

He'll need to that consistently before I'm convinced though. Still get really nervous when the ball is in his hands.

tonights prob what hardwick has seen in him since pre season

disposal and compure looks to have improved

just hope that rance, luke and grimes arent always going to be our switch options. recipe for disaster

Agree - nothing scarier than when Rance or McGuane have the ball close to the opposition goal.

But he proved us doubters wrong tonight. Spoiled and defended well. Just needs to follow it up with some consistency.

Rance's kicking action is pretty good actually. Sometimes he can just be rushed and make a silly decision but that's improved. McGuane however has a terrible kicking action. I don't want the ball in his hands ever.

steadily improving with every game. defensive side improving, marking improving, kicking improving, decision making improving. the best thing I like about Rance is that he's not a statue in the back half, is always running to support and provide an option. also has urgency in his game. alot of our attacks from defence start from him. Like Nahas always takes the game on.

Could not have said it better

Great game but we wont see him for a couple of weeks. Head high bump on Raines pretty stupid I thought

no probs at all with that collision with raines they both went for the ball unavoidable contact and raines came off second best nothing in it shouldn't even be sighted

Rance was fantastic tonight, really enjoyed his defensive work and his run :clap

Still has the odd moment where he looks a little lost, but I'm seeing less and less of this with each week that goes by.

agree skip with all that u said, well done Rance :clap gee there were times when i thought he was the general in the back half, he sure does back himself good quality!!!
