Yeh - just had a look at the video on AFL Page...... Surely if thats is considered as evidence by the MRP and then Waite gets off kicking somebody where you live then its the MRP who are the laughing stock of the AFL.. Especially after The Lord Judd got off for his indescressions last year. Fancy playing favoites this early in the season............ Makes you wonder what the Tigers did to annoy them so bad---Just gotta look at how bad Kingy gets it nowdays - it really is he is always assumed guilty.Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr makes u angry. Let the punnishment fit the crime.

The MRP members were most definitely alive and fearful of us in the late 60s, early 70s.

The suspension appears to be bad news for Rancid in terms of his immediate prospects. But I dunno.

I'm very happy that after Waite was showing everybody what a hard man he is Alex laid him out. Good for the team. Good for football.

Waite is a *smile*. He had it coming. Alex did the job old school. Hopefully he's an automatic selection upon serving his sentence.

I reckon Rance did a good thing for the Tiges.

Part of becoming a force is having the ability to stand up for yourselves. Even intimidate others.
While in todays footy players can't simply settle scores 70's style they can still be a physical side and become known for not allowing blokes like Waite prance attempting to kick blokes in the goolies.

For too long we have allowed sides to kick sand in our faces when sometimes all that is needed is a little side step.

We all know that the MRP is a joke.

Perhaps the most damning charge in Football these days is: "Being the closest opposition player to someone who got hurt and made AFL look rough on Prime-time TV." You don't come out of that one and play the next week.

It is not the respect of the MRP that RFC needs to win. It is the respect of the opposition. Rance will walk a little taller when he gets back out on the field and everyone will know that he gives as good as he gets.

Big unit no doubt, makes a hard contest... i find it hard to have gotten 4 weeks out of the kind of video evidence they had (if that was all they had)... That said though, i wouldn't mind rotating him out of the side. He looks the part, has a crack, ticks all the boxes, but somehow has the shakiness and decision making remaniscent of a baby elephant, I like the guy but i'm not sold on him at all

Perhaps the Tiges should take a different tack. Put Rance front and centre and ask him if he knows what happened:
"Look I was just standing there when this little pipsqueak tried to run through me, to be honest all I felt was the tiniest zepher and then I was off chasing the ball"
"I've sent him some flowers though, bless his little cotton socks, Muscles McGuane wrote the card for me"
"I'm not saying it was intentional, but I'd make sure I looked both ways before crossing my path again"

....or something of that ilk?

I think Rance is being punished for having poor space perception. I think the reason Waite got taken out is because Alex couldn't see how the 2 players movement in front of him was developing. Problem is when you are a beast like Rance with his speed, acceleration power and you have no idea of your whereabouts he is a god damn loaded weapon running around.

A bit like when a dopey ruckman bumps a midget in the head and they say "well he only goes up to my hips!"

Rance just recognised that Waite was running back towards the open goal and he applied a block to stop him. We see defenders doing this all the time, given the number of goals kicked by players who are doubling back towards goal.

Could he have pulled out of it? Of course, he could have but then Waite might have kicked the goal.

Was the action reckless? Of course it was, he was desperate to stop the player, as he should be.

Was the contact high? Unfortunately, yes. It would have been impossible to argue that it wasn't, given Waite had a good long cry about it.

At least he hit him hard.

If you are standing near someone who gets hurt on National TV, you must pay the price, or Mums will stop their kids from playing footy.

Didn't think they would challenge the tribunal, Gourdis and Thursfield are both capable replacements.
It's a tough break for young Alex, especially in round one.

like 4 like - none of them are up to it

I'm not sure Alex can aquire the awareness that he seems to lack, or composure maybe, but I agree that he made the right decision to block and the fact that Waite hit the deck means he executed it well. The head high contact was unfortunate - I disagree with the MRP that it was reckless - but in essence the action was correct. I like the idea of having a bit of an X factor (The aleX factor?) in our backline. Maybe we can use that.
