Some big calls on Alex looking back.

Leysy hates to say it, but old Redford might have got this one bang on. Describes him to this day to a tee.

Let's hope he is as accurate as he was with his initial assessment of Foley.

doesn't have the skills or brians to be a AFL player.

Trade now while we can :sleeping

i get the feeling dimma loves this guy and has massive plans for him. he's marked him down as a keeper for sure

Thought his game last night was just a pass mark. He butchered quite a few kicks and really needs to put a bit more polish on his kicking to put it mildly. Got caught a few times so needs to get a bit more awareness. He did try hard and put his body in. Was monstered a bit by some very tall forwards. Would you have him in before Moore? For me not yet.

Answer is yes in relation to last night's game. Kel wasn't available was he?

I have been quite dubious about young Alex. Not sold but he is improving on his deficiencies. More composure with the ball and better defensive application.

Does seem to lack any peripheral vision though.

OK game from my point of view. I'd keep playing him for the time being.

The boy did ok last was pleasantly surpised ( even taking into his lack of awareness) but he's not the future. I dont think anyone can learn composure can they? And he lacks it, looks panicked EVERY time gets the ball. Just wants to give it to the nearest person or when he does run with it doesnt seem to know what to do with it on most occassions.

Is yet another in the Schulz/Zantuck/Krak/Polo categry that'll we'll keep for 5 seasons (always hoping they'll come good) then trade on when it's finally realised they won't.

If Moore is fit...

I don't see it as a one or the other situation. Alex is 4 cm taller than Kel yet he looks dwarfed by the bigger opposition players. Depends on the match ups in each game. There will be plenty of times when both are required.

I'm really surprised a few people are saying he had a good game. From what I saw (sitting at the PRE) he just kept getting rid of the ball without even looking up to assess the situation. He usually made the wrong decision or missed the target. Admittedly, his poor disposals didn't directly cost us many goals (if any) but I thought that in the first quarter in particular he was possibly the worst link in a bad chain of decisions/disposals from defence to attack. Those who were sitting around me seemed to be seeing the same thing as me. Maybe he was a star in the 2nd and 4th quarters ... :headscratch

Yep, lack of awareness and composure are his downfalls IMO.

I have my heart in my mouth every time he gets the ball. He and McGuane are an accident waiting to happen down there.

i was up that end as well and i think i was seeing similar things

Riewoldt, Gilbert and Gamble are probably the only marking targets the Sainters will have next week. Probably only need 3 of Astbury, Rance, McGuane, Moore, Thursfield to cover them. Stopping Milne will be the major factor as per usual.

I only remember one poor disposal and getting caught once. When he got caught it was also Mcguane's fault , he was the one who handballed it to Alex and he has a mouth , he would have seen Betts . Rance lacked awareness in that instance but generally he was improved in that area.
Those around us thought he was pretty good , we were pleasantly surprised . He seemed also to have more confidence in the marking contest and beat Walker in the second half one on one quite a few times. That is the size of player he needs to be on.
He is no star yet but he is far better than the rantings of some on this site. I like his pace and run for a good size player .

Walker was very prominent in the first quarter. After that was hardly seen until the roll on in the last quarter. Rance did a good job and certainly on that performance deserves a spot next week.

I reakon Rance will get off.

Anyone who has seen Alex play knows that he is entirely capable of knocking someone out with a accidental head butt, I’m just glad it wasn’t a Richmond player
