Makes sense....we have plenty of others who are proven list cloggers to flick first.TigerMasochist said:If the coaching staff can get some value out of Rancealot as a defensive harrassing forward then it's purely a win win for us.
Dimma is working at constructing a solid defensive capability first before expanding the attacking side of our game, so if Rance grows into the task no probs. If Rance succeeds in any position on the field it's pure bonus simply because plenty of us have doubts about him and none of us are happy about the prospect of another high pick failing.
A bit of big bodied Rance crashing around the forward line might even make a bit of extra space for Jaaack to work in as well.
Our season isn't really going anywhere this year so there's no harm in getting an extra fifteen to twenty games into a big robust player and being absolutely certain about his future prospects, he hasn't really been around long enough to be a list clogger, hopefully he can keep developing.
Funny how hindsight gives you perfect vision, a lot of the resident experts and junior watchers were very happy about Rance's selection at the time. In fact they demanded he be picked. 'Absolutely wonderful, massive, perfect selection.'lamb22 said:the question is though Nige - why did we draft a kid who cant mark, kick, play one on one footy, defend or make good decisions at 18?

Without having any solid reason for my opinion, I agree.BIGNIGE said:Others have answered this question
He obviously could at junior level .... that leads me to think in time he will be able to do that at senior
hate to repeat myself but the kid needs time
Out of curiosity was there anyone you fancied at the time?lamb22 said:Yeah it was interesting reading ..the sort of stuff you get from interested supporters with perhaps less than perfect knowledge of the potential draftees.
Col.W.Kurtz said:Emma Quayle wrote a book on that draft, and in it she shows the Hawk's recruiters rated Rance very highly

Tomahawk kicked 3 goals and 4 goals in his first two matches, he has averaged 1.3-1.4 goals per season every year he has played. He has slightly increased his marks and possessions.BIGNIGE said:Just watching Tomahawk tonight and was thinking that it took him 4 years and a change of position to start to show something.
I just feel that Alex may just be in the same boat. The time will come when it will click. Confidence may just be the Key.
