Alex Rance

I honestly can't see what Rance brings to the side. Doesn't read the play well, runs into trouble and can't mark over his head. I don't question his courage or endeavour, however those traits can only take you so far.

I am not one for negativity with a listed player, but I felt he was a clear liability yesterday. I am not sure why we would play Rance over Morton in our forward line.

Pretty much ineffectual down forward and a liability in defence.
Dropped an absolute dolly up forward yesterday, his hands aren't much chop in the air at all.

About the only thing he's got going for him is his kamikaze style.
Hard to see where he's going to fit in.
Only chance I see is as a stopper, but unfortunately I don't think his abilities above his head are good enough. Should be moved on as soon as possible.

Defensive pressure and second efforts.

I suspect they are trying to teach Morton a lesson about being more accountable

he should be delisted just for the stupid free he gave away at the start of the 3rd.

This KPF experiment IMO is a waste of time. This guy can barely hold uncontested marks let alone contested marks, looses his feet, etc. So ineffectual up forward it's not funny. He's going to be a KPD or nothing and that's a stretch also given his deficiencies. Would expect him to get dropped this week anyways. We should've taken Hawthorn's offer.

Suggest you move him into the not going to make it category unfortunately Tooheys.

As you say there just isnt a position that he can play.
Though a player with so mant inadequacies thats not suprising unfortunately. :-[

cant help it, but have to agree 100%
He was recruited due to versatility, he has no versatility.
Yesterday it was a comedy act watching him and polak, trying to mark..
We shouldve off loaded last year, because this year we lucky to a packet of tim tams for him.
Sorry, but true.

Yes, he managed to negate the best bit of play both he and Polak had combined all day

He is a backman pure and simple.

Why do RFC coaches insist on trying to turn players who clearly aren't forwards into forwards??

He is not a backman though Caspar.

The thing that stood out for me last year and alarmed me was not his so so disposal but the fact that he just couldn't compete for a contested ball in the air - just had no idea. If he cant do that he simply cant play because he is not an effective user of the ball.

Without being flippant I've suggested before that RFC should have his eyes checked because he seems to have depth perception problems - He usually lunges at it with hard hands or runs underneath it. He is tough enough so he is not squibbing it. The big hit he received may have affected him more than we thought or .....more likely Rance was broken when we got him.

The more I watch Rance the more I think he isn't going to make it. His disposal is not good enough, makes too many bad decisions and loses his feet too often and too easily. We should be seriously considering delisting him at the end of the year before he becomes the next Jay schulz. Unfortunately this looks to be another early draft pick wasted.

Poor Polak....finally took an overhead mark and had it taken off him due to Rance's stupidity.

Like others on here, I have grave concerns for Rance.

Agree SAF. Is it Emperor's new clothes syndrome or the gestalt switch? He's been the same for yonks and all of a sudden its obvious.

A year too late to get a decent draft pick for him though.

I have thought that people have been premature in writing Alex off but my own doubts are growing a bit here. I love his bravery......but his decision making or should I say - time he needs to make a decision is not good & yes....he goes to ground too much. Once on the ground - out of the contest & we have lost control. Got to keep his feet more.

at 20 years of age and just 21 games - all under the pump trying to play well in a struggling side - lets say we give him some time
