Jack was on fire first half of 2007 at Coburg and should have played seniors earlier and used better and sparingly as a third/fouth option.

Alex has played two seasons - obviously his first was not very memorable to you HF ;D. I have seen him at Coburg around 15 times and in Richmond colours the rest.

I think you have the rose colored glasses on with Alex. I'd suggest the Kool aid is more approriate if you are holding out much hope!
I'm in your corner lamb chop.
Jaaaack would have to be about our smartest footballer, thinks his way through situations brilliantly. His problem is getting the physical capacity to match his thinking process, strength will come as he matures but would love him to find a half yard of extra pace. Would love his footy smarts on his cousins athleticism, perfect footballer.
Rancealot at the moment is like a big mastiff or rotty pup, heaps of exuberant charging around and knocking things over. Hopefully with a bit of development and maturity he will find the balance between flatout and go hard in the zone. Kid just needs to back off his game throttle a smidgin to allow himself time for the thinking to catch up with the doing.

I thought Alex's kicking and general play improved much towards the end of last year probably in the last 3 or 4 games where he looked more at ease with his kicking. I suspect it is more of a confidence thing and believing he belongs in the team.

I suspect he will continue to improve this year as well.

I think that has been identified before. His selfless/reckless style of play was probably down to a lack of confidence.

Will be interesting to see where he goes if he gets some of that self belief.

At least I remembered Jack's first season! You ignored poor old Alex completely in 2008!

Others may have said this but Alex Rance has a lot going for him
He is quick, agile, courageous, has long arms and marks ok, but his kicking is a query
Play him deep in the forward line, and his kicking wont be such a problem
He doesnt have to hit anyone on the chest, just get it within a few metres of centre, way over the top of his target and its a goal

There isnt an alternative thats better at present so put him in front of goals and let him rip, at least until Astbury, Griffiths etc get fit and stronger

We dont have much to loose and he could be ok

I'm down with this. Would like to see Rance get a run and in a position where he can't hurt us too much and his endeavour can't be questioned.

Agree Billy.

Rance would do a lot better than Hislop, and is a tall so I would bite the bullet and do it.

We should be playing him and I question some of the selections we have been preferring.

I haven't seen it ,yself (I haven't gone to see the burgers yet this year) but they are trying this in the ressies atm. Out of 8 quarters he has played forward according to observers he has played two decent ones. Needs to get comfortable and effective at Coburg before we promote him to the seniors.

I hold little hope for Rance. His skill level and decision making is abysmal and if Hardwick is true to his word about players who can't kick then he won't be here for long. But while he is here we might as well try it out and give him a crack at it. This is not a bad suggestion; I don't see whta we have to lose.

He may just surprise

Rance has been gifted with looks, physique, complexion and jaw line, all we need now is for him to break into the side. He did a satisfactory job in the praccy at Williamstown but I have my doubts how he will perform at the next level at the moment. Will be a great inclusion in our forward line but personally I don't think he is ready yet.
