2024 Training With The Ooze Crew

Fair. The collective output of this group will determine how hard our dip is.

Let's do under or overs of the combined group.

  • Pick 9: Josh Gibcus.
  • Pick 17: Tom Brown.
  • Pick 28: Tyler Sonsie.
  • Pick 29: Sam Banks.
  • Pick 30: Judson Clarke.
I'm setting the market at 74.5 combined games played in 2024. Do you take the under or the over?
Unders easy. Historically, 15+ games in your third season is a pretty good predictor of a long career.

Combined games played in 2024.

Tough line to hit. I really comes down to 2 things really. Banks - is he a number 1 winger or do we prefer Kmac / Pickett with Ross, and if Brown plays in place of Grimes.

I've probably gone on the conservative side and have about 65 games between them.
Guessed at Gibbo (18 - same as 2022), Brown (10), Banks (10), Sonsie (12 - I reckon Yze will like him in the team) and Clarke (15 - just building on his 13 games in 2023).

Another 10 could be made up of Banks is a starting wing, or if Grimes doesn't play much this year (as I think Brown will be given 1st crack at that role personally).

Hmm. Average of 15 games each. Good line.
If Gibcus string is ok, you'd think he plays 20 games.

Then you are looking for 55 across the other four.

Judson played 13 games. 15 games this year gets you to 35.

Sonsie, Brown Banks. Can they play a combined 40?

I reckon it's close.

if we are serious about regenerating, 75 has to be the absolute minimum for these kids (barring injury of course).

Lefau at training has already busted a few players in half. So imagine what he would be like against the opposition.

On a football front he has versatility. Can play forward, back, wing. Athlete. He will start as a forward. At 196cm and around 98kgs he is a big boy who will crash packs and he can mark the footy.

As for McCuliffe he is already mixing it with the big boys. Has the body and movement of an AFL player.
Re:Lefau. Got a txt from my brother the other day (non tiges supporter) who told me a young guy he knows playing in the VFL for Werribee gave him a big wrap. ‘Quick as and tackling amazing”. He got tackled by Lefau twice in the game and both times had the wind taken out of him. He is a ruckman not a peewee.

Under.

Already down 4 matches per player due injury. Hope it’s not the case but I start with maths. Potentially being younger they should have less though vs the average.

Match Sim available for viewing on YT
Did they have actual AFL umpires?
Must have been hard for them adjudicating a Richmond V. Richmond game, on the one hand can't pay enough frees against, but unwilling to pay any for.

:mhihi The agony.....but one gave a 50, so there's a bit of pleasure.

I remember Jack Reiwoldt said once, they tried to avoid Jacob Townsend in the tackling drills, I reckon this bloke would be worse.

- who was in red opposite Nank in ruck? I heard reference to May (Archie?). Either way, they competed well but yellow did well to get the centre clearance
I was impressed with him too. Moved well across the ground acting as a bit of a link to get the ball out into space.

Apparently he was originally in Storms development squad as a young bloke. The rugby guys can tackle. We should be inviting the Storm group to our training every year.
