2024 Training With The Ooze Crew

Was amazing watching & listening to Towner tackle blokes at VFL games. The poor blokes he hit stayed hit.

1 game at Punt Rd the ump felt sorry for Towners victim & paid a free against him for tackling too hard
Haha think I remember that Taz.
The Leeton lad definitely tackled different.

Wasn't prestia in rehab group last few weeks so probably already had sore hamstrings ,so would have known that the slightest soreness,u must come off, this is much more likely than the weak bed-wetting scenarios I've heard here.

In 1 qtr against Melbourne 2018 or 19
He dislocated 3 legs, snapped a Melbourne player in half and kod one.
He is the best (hurt/pain) tackler I've seen in 40 years.
I thought Peter Wilson and Scotty Turner were good tacklers Towner has them covered.
Depends how you define tackle. Back in the day Scott Turner defined the shirt front.

No son, before the TKO of ODonnel.
He love to hurt with his tackles.
I remember a game against Geelong, Ablett was quite but a bold X WC player started kicking goals. Turner tackled him 3 hrs after he kicked the ball.
The bloke was calling for his mama

That end of the MCG still has divots in it.
That hit on Nathan Jones still gives me goose bumps.
Is that the same game where Stack sent Viney to St Vincent's??
That was the game where he buried Nathan Jones in the turf at the City end Zips if I recall. They are still trying to repair the human shaped hole

Prestia was sent for scans after the match sim as reported on the AFL site. Haven't see what the result was

The young player we could really do with coming on is Kaleb Smith. We have a significant problem where pace and carry through the midfield, and spread from stoppages is concerned. Even if we can just get 1 or 2 senior games into him this year, that’d be good. I’d even take a solid body of work in the VFL eg 15 games or so. Hopefully he’s continuing to recover from his foot injury.

100% this old fox.

We been saying for a while - Biggest need on our list. We are sllloooowwwww all through there.

Hopper, Taranto, Graham, Sonsie etc are all pretty one paced add Meatball has lost some zip. Dow isn't quick but he at least has really good evasion/agility that is a point of difference to those guys. Hence why he's going to get opportunities.

Add our wings as well - Ross, McIntosh, Pickett (both lost a yard) aren't express. Banks covers the ground well but wouln't say he's quick. Shame Hugo is conditional attacking the ball and so scrappy by foot. Could Coulthard be groomed for a wing? Maybe too short.

Not sure Smith has ever spent much time in the middle as a junior, so probably a long shot to help in that area. But he does have wheels. There's not much else on the list with midfield pace potential unfortunately.

It's all in hindsight now as it felt good at the time, but looking back, prob didn't need to double dip with Hopper after landing Taranto. They are both pure mids (Taranto can pinch hit forward) and both lack some burst. Hopp especially can't really play anywhere else.

What it all means is that we'll need to use Shai (and Dusty) in the middle more than we'd ideally like. They are the one's that can really put opposition midfield (and defence) on the back foot. Maybe that pushes Taranto forward more this year, which is not where he plays his best footy, but team dynamics might demand it.

I have a smokey for midfield pace (and class): Brown. Not a big game from him but showed his great hands twice in a few seconds in the middle of the ground after Martin had fumbled twice. Looks to have grown - if Trezise is 188 as reported this bloke is at least 190, maybe even 192. Been slowed by injury and maybe growing pains. Maybe I'm seeing things. But he's quick, getting big, good in the contest, great hands and a beautiful kick. Not an endurance runner. Almost certainly won't move from defence this year. But I dunno. Maybe. In a year or two.

Otherwise we need to poach an explosive mid. If Taryn Thomas weren't a lazy, pipe-lovin idiot, he'd be perfect. Davies-Uniacke. Norf are overflowing with young prospects and need to be relieved of a couple. Maybe their former skipper could wax lyrical into a few ears about what it's like being at a real club.

Wouldn't mind seeing Juddy Clarke given a run in the midfield, has plenty of pace and agility, would need to bulk up a bit.

LDU would be perfect for us I reckon. He's a pre-agent at the end of this year, if there was a time to pounce it might be the end of this year. We'd have to give up a bit but then we do have a big draft hand already.

Not sure Brown will play midfield. I do like Redfords Smith take, whether its Smith into the midfield or maybe Dan Rioli as a 1st receiver I can see that working. Funnily enough its something I've noticed on our list, I constantly hear people saying "no more flankers" but barely see any true half backs on our list bar Rioli, Short and Baker. Smith is the young one that could complement that group and allows a bit of that speed to roll through the midfield.

Obviously McAuliffe could be an option to roll through and provide a bit more pace and power to the midfield group.

If were trying Brown as a mid why not Trezise in the midfield
Heres a write up before coming to us....
He played predominantly as a high half-forward, often running deep into defence and torching his opposition on the way back with his elite speed and endurance.
He also possesses an exciting leap and loves kicking a long goal

He will in time, I think, tman. Not yet.

Yep, LDU perfect. Turns 25 this year. Will he see the light at the end of the tunnel coming soon enough for him at Norf? He'll be aware they have a glut of young midfield talent now. LDU, Simpkin, Sheezel, Wardlaw, McKercher, Duursma (Thomas if he straightens up): potentially the best midfield in the league in a few years' time.

Brown is a better chance than Smith, IMO. Smith hasn't even played a VFL game yet. And is 181 - small. Questions on his contest work. Running half-back the go for me.

On true half-backs, reckon Brown and Trezise fit the bill. Trezise is another with his size, speed, contested ability and rapid improvement who could potentially move to the midfield.

McAuliffe does look a good'un.

Juddy could play a wing role at AFL level I reckon. Has played a bit there as well as high half forward. Got the speed and skills

I thought the same. Will Day comes to mind, although he may have a more contested side to his game than Brown. Still, like the idea

Don’t forget Baker as well, looks like he’s in for more midfield minutes and adds some pace and good kicking

Bakes has been tried in the middle a few times and never quite grasped it.

Prefer him either forward or back.
