2024 Richmond Coach

Giansiracusa, Skipworth and King reportedly on the short list too.
No way to Giansiracusa. His surname is too long and too hard to say; took me about 5 gos just to type it and still not sure I got it right. The supporters will get too tongue tied when trying to rant about him. Unfair.

The club is on the record that they want a coach by September. I reckon it will be announced in the week after our last game.

The word I have is that Carr didn't want the job while Chaplin and Graham didn't make the shortlist.

The shorlist appears to be:

Mini
Newy
Yze; and
Skipworth

Not a very impressive list to pick from.
I do find that list quite underwhelming. Is Skipworth the smokey? Know little about him.

Hinkley would be better than the list suggested. I wonder if we would look silly if we appoint someone in September then
Port go out in straight sets and blame Kenny????

IMO keep it in house if you can. Tigers are not that far away as this season has been quite out of the ordinary eg Castagna, Llynch ,Gibcus Tarrant putting Tigers behind the 8 ball all season .Got some great young talent & only game time will get them up to scratch . Our biggest need is another Nackers to boost the ruck division . Ryan is ok but just require some one else with some more grunt.

Always said none of us have any clue what any of the assistants can give. Really none of us have no idea what Newman, Skipworth, Yze, Gia etc are like.

Saying that, firming to the opinion that an outside voice would be preferrable.

Having every player from Grimes to Sonsie to Campbell start on equal footing and prove themselves again for a starting spot is a real positive ILO.

Also, there is a real stigma placed on senior coaching candidates missing out on jobs.

This has hurt us with Mini being seen as such a short favourite.

Some won't go through the process with the high likelihood they miss.

This is why Leysy wouldn't be surprised if Benny parachutes a couple into the last stage.

i.e. Leppitsch. He looks to have everything we need after Dimma. i.e. big personality, tactically astute, experience, presence, Richmond way etc.

If we asked him to present with the final 1 or 2. Reckon he would.

I agree. Leppa would be my pick as well. I hope Benny is all over this.

Agree Leysy.

Gale, Balmey may have to reset their criteria about ‘being a young, first time coach’ thinking…

But in your point Re Leppa, it’s the same as mine with Newman.

But again you stated in your earlier post about…

“Always said none of us have any clue what any of the assistants can give. Really none of us have no idea”

So true. Not one of us have any real idea.

We won premierships because we were mentally fitter and better connected than everybody else.
Dimma loosened up and completely changed the game with chaos and fun. That window has gone for us but it still works as Collingwood has shown.
Collingwood has a psychologist on the bench now.
Our connection and trust in each other is not working at present, probably with the loss of the experienced players.
Possibly the loss of Mrs Hardwick caused doubts.
Injuries and age caught up with us.
What will be the next leap?
Connection takes time, and over the next couple of years we will grow.

Happy with either but think Mini will be our man.
I think so, too. However, if we go with him. I think we’re putting the necessary rebuild back by however long his contract is. He’s starting to look like the most clueless coach we’ve had since Frawley.

One of my friends is a Dogs supporter, he always called him Guido, and I’ve heard him called Gia. IMO Guido is a way better nickname than Mini.

If we end up with either McQualter, Gia or Skipworth get ready for some dark years ahead.
Most underwhelming group of candidate's since the Patterson Sproule and Bourke years

Brightardarmous here , The famous number 1,17 and 35 will be our coach in 2024 , I think last 2 weeks have mini going from 1/10 to 10/1 .

I’m not the huge Newman fan like most tigers , however his resume reads just how you’d like an untried coach to read

Not that I particularly want him, but the best coach not coaching is Leon Cameron. GF and 3 x Prelims. Yes I know Ferrari and all that, but still had to overcome a bit
