2024 Richmond Coach

Still good to see no player's asked for a trade in our team compared to some others.
Don’t speak too soon. I’m hearing gossip that one of our younger players is not overly happy at the club… doesn’t believe he was given enough of an opportunity this year… I don’t know if that’s unhappy and wants to leave, or unhappy and determined to prove a point next season. I‘m hoping it’s the latter as he hasn’t headed off overseas and was out running when I recently randomly crossed paths with him.

Sonsie I assume?

New coach has to be yze as no need what so ever to not say it's mini otherwise.
Also gws,Geelong, and plenty more clubs didn't give a thuk that announcing a new coach would effect their current clubs, and did the announcement anyhow,we are at times too nice.

So we are waiting for Tartan Bourne to lose?
Barrack for The C word?
Err, Yukko.

Wow some good arguments put forward in favour of mini but I still think we need a complete tactical overhaul to bring us in line with what the top teams are doing.

Our offense has been OK (even without Lynch) but our defensive structures went to water for most of the year.

Our mids weren't too flash either.

Dimma last night thought the Richmond game plan was what has been modelled in part by the Wobblers and Geewhiz so said GC will use parts of the Richmond model too as this is the prevalent style that is successful.

So maybe we do not have to throw the baby out with the bath water but just change the bath water.

IMHO I think it is winning the clearances and contests and taking some bloody marks. We also need to improve our skill level. Deplorable by foot and hand at times.

We desperately need to improve our goal kicking. So many time throughout the season we were woefully inaccurate. It definitely cost us a few early games.

Agree with that , but even our skills generally hitting targets gone backwards and we panic to much just doesn't look there is a structure. Even the brain fades continually by certain players.

The top teams control the ball more and better than we do. They seem to have gears that we don’t. GWS for mine is the best example of taking our game plan to the next level and beyond really. I love watching them play.

So no, I don’t think we have to throw everything out and start again but there’s a hell of a lot we do need to get much better at.
You don’t have to be a Dimma disciple to work it out either but you’ve got to have footy smarts, be able to coach your vision and have a good team around you.
I can’t wait for the club to lift the lid on the coaching staff so we can see what we’ve got

After some reflective contemplation I have come to the inescapable conclusion that all of you, yes you, (and me too), have absolutely NFI about the coaching landscape and what is going on in any meaningful way. We should all sit back, relax, and just cop whatever is coming our way.

Agree 100%, take your opportunities when you have them. Imagine if we improved our conversion rate just 10-15%.

Isn’t that a big thing from Choco Williams? He is right, practice guiding the bloody ball as close as possible to your foot. Best kicks in the game always did that, Robbie Flower, Mark Browning, Mark Bayes, David Rhys-Jones (he was deplorable to begin with but someone taillight him how to kick properly), Doug Hawkins, Leon Cameron to name few.
