2024 Richmond Coach

Mini had 14 games was there much impressive wins, lucky against hawks and Eagles to. Kept on playing the senior players never dropped even after those 2 horrible losses the kids took the rapt, and when finals was out of reach played the kids. There all things in his control.
He just finished eating Dimma's leftover cold snags in those 14 games. If he becomes coach, he'll be cooking fresh ones in his own way.

Yze would give us a new direction.
We have to move on from our recent success.

TBH I wasn't up for Mini getting the job but the longer this goes the more uninspiring that the list has become, and thus the more attractive Mini has become.

Hopefully he is as astute as many have stated and he is willing to push the hard yards and pull the hard reign if he gets the gig.

Best of the least on hand is still the best I guess :mhihi

I don’t necessarily think it’s a good thing, already having pre existing relationships with the players. I think someone new who comes in and forms his own opinions of what our best 22 looks like is the way to go. Too many of Dimmas old disciples kept getting games well into the season who didn’t deserve them… can’t help but think that was because mini didn’t want to make hard calls. If we’re going into a “new era”, it’s time to refresh

Yep. IMO, we shouldn't close the books on our current success with someone external. If Dimma was sacked and the club failed badly, OK, but we're still riding high on success and the seeds are still there at the club. We can say weeds grew from 2021 to now, but hopefully we can re-grow better green shoots from 2024.

I also think that if Jack and Trent hadn’t made the call themselves, he would have advocated offering them another year. If he’s appointed, I bet we’ll retain the Grimes Nank co captaincy. He doesn’t like change.

Doesn't like change? Didn't we see it in the game plan of the 14 games? Lot of debutants.

Yep. Concerning those loses.
Players may well have checked out after Hardwick "got busted chatting up" with Port and the Suns if that report is true.

Shitful loss to the Swans that weekend, then the run of really bad losses to the Suns and Drugs that ultimately cost us finals run.

The club is along ways from the club 2017-20, and I still have a suspicion Hardwick's choices in 2020 and the repercussions of those choices set the tailspin in motion post 2020 GF.

The club has not been the same animal from the return in 21 but thats my outside persepctive, maybe Im wrong but Its my belief.

We moved a couple of guys around on field, that’s it. We continued to leak huge amounts of inside 50s, and thus conceded a lot of points. Also, the only debutant who got more than 6 games was Young. We were in the top 3 oldest sides for the season. That’s startling considering we finished 13th. Nowhere near enough games into the kids!

Then Hardwick "walked."

Agree with this.

Lot of continuing to play the old favourites even when they didn’t deserve it. Kept picking an injured Rioli. He was forced into change by circumstance, not choice. He’s Wallace all over, coach for the now, not the future. Our crap kicking from set shots has been around for years now, as has McQualter.

Exactly, and it wasn’t exactly groundbreaking stuff (short back to HB, baker FWD). Been done before

He’s supposed to be tactically astute, yet he continued to play Pickett in the forward line where he floundered and kept putting MoJu there where he starved.

Yze would come in and clean out the older players, which would make our rebuild quicker.

We had to show respect to Jack and Chimp. Rioli put his hand up himself and we needed him in defence. He didn't look proppy in majority of games. I'll agree with letting Pickett and Dash Kam play, but I suppose Mini didn't have enough time to review and make major changes. Anyway, we'll see.

Grimes? Graham? Rioli had to go off for extended periods in nearly every game after he did the injury. Players will always want to play. It’s the job of the mc and the coach to force them to rest.
