2024 Richmond Coach

I really can’t understand why there is angst about the process.
This is a very important appointment we just need to let the club do what they need to do.
I am disappointed in a way not to see Newy come back but that is emotion. He was a long time Tiger and our skipper and he is much loved by the fans for that. However what it says is emotions have been taken out of the process, we are just getting the best coach we can get.
That’s a good thing.
Same about Newman.
but the ties run deep.
as for the process and time line.
we aren’t rushing it, methodical in our approach,
this isn’t the Richmond of late 80s, 90s or 00s

Down to 2 . . . according to the AFL Media department. Why would they know any more than us, after all it is well known that we don't get on with the AFL.

I will laugh if the job goes to one of the others, but I also don't trust their info, just think of how many times their speculation turns out to be complete rubbish.

DS

Reckon it is correct. Any unsuccessful candidates will have told friends/family so word quickly gets out (and usually by this late stage accurately).

There's potential that could happen. There's also potential that Mini is so biased towards the current gamestyle he can't see a way to beat it. (oh to be a fly on the wall in
their interviews to see what they truly think!).

You know what I think beats the Dimma game style? Talent and desire.
Geelong won a GF last year. They don't play the Dimma style - but they had a lot of talent. They also had the desire to work hard enough to win.
Collingwood have some very good talent, performing at the upper end of the scale in terms of those individuals.
GWS similiar. Full of talented players, but also now have role players doing the dirty work the club didn't have back in 2019.

You know what we don't have a lot of? Elite players. Game busting, match turning players. Players who are hungry to win.
I don't care what game style we have, or who the coach is. Until we fix the list, we're a long way off.
I reckon we're going to struggle to get some Free Agents signing with us, or entice people in via trade, until our coach is proven.
Would you rather take the same money and play for Clarko or Dimma or Mini/Yze?
Agree with that. Said many weeks ago that it won’t matter what coach we have and what game plan we have until we develop a much stronger list.

Whoever coaches is gonna have a rough first few years I think.

I've heard we arent going to actually make an appointment and McQualter will stay on as interim coach for the next 3 years.
I heard we are going down the dual coach role as we cant split them and will have two coaches. Just like our dual capitains

Apparently our coaching job is down to two with Andrew McQualter and Adem Yze shaping as the leading contenders for the role 🧐

Essendon assistant Daniel Giansiracusa, Hawthorn assistant Chris Newman and Richmond assistant Xavier Clarke had also been on the Tigers' coaching shortlist but
are understood to no longer be part of the process 🤐

It’s all a bit uninspiring really.
Can imagine it’s probably the same for any prospective players we are trying to entice to the club.

I’ve never felt less positive about the prospect of a ‘new’ coach than I am about the idea of McQualter getting the gig. I can see us here in a couple of years time having the same conversation and wondering why our rebuild hasn’t started. I guess we’ll get some good draft picks for the new coach after McQualter to work with at least.

Mini is a switched on dude. What got a good’en. Forget about his pretty impressive interim reign. Once he gets the nod, he will make us great again

Same thought Sin. I laughed at the Dorks getting some short tempered lolnorf player from the 80s while we got the better known Terry Wallace who also played with us.......and boy was I wrong.

It is reading like Mini has the gig, but can't see this reported/ stated by the club anywhere...

Any links?

Will the new coach be bringing quick, skilful, competitive players with him? That's what we need

Mini had 14 games was there much impressive wins, lucky against hawks and Eagles to. Kept on playing the senior players never dropped even after those 2 horrible losses the kids took the rapt, and when finals was out of reach played the kids. There all things in his control.
