2024 Richmond Coach

If that's putting them of, then they're not the right person for the job imo.

As I've said before, we want someone who'd crawl over broken glass to coach us. The rest can go forth & multiply.
That’s what I couldn’t understand Carrs decision. There are only 18 of these jobs and we are a very attractive proposition for anyone wanting to be a senior coach. Yet Carr wants to limit his prospects even further to the one club. So what happens if Hinkley wins a flag over the next two years and decides he wants to stay for a few more years. Carr has already put his career on hold for 2 years, would he be prepared to do it for a further 2 or more years?

Strange decision for a professional coach to take. He’s either got massive tickets on himself or isn’t really desperate to be a senior coach or both.

In any case if he doesn’t want to coach us then I wish him nothing but a miserable time of it.

His misses apprantly was the major cause of him leaving freo & returning back to SA. He wouldve been in the box seat to take over from Longmuire.
He wasnt/isn't leaving Adelaide to come to us because he knows Hinkley has no chance and if they straight sets it out of the finals he might be ports coach round 1 2024

Nothing at all happening in the way of coaching upheaval as such this year. So pretty much the only option available is to hunt for a newbie with coaching aspirations. With maybe a couple of potentials being happy to stay where they are, there's a very limited range of suitable options left available. We've got the four most suitable options still in the process so we'll pick from that n see what happens from there.

Its a bit embarrassing and testament to how quickly the club seemingly has fallen away with many suitors not interested in coaching the club.

The club is not in the basement as a basket case and has some weapons still in its armory which should assist with a lesser period out of serious contention.

I would've thought the RFC would still be an attractive proposition although it seems like most on the outside view it as somewhat a hiding to nothing.

Tigers fans to be honest are not expecting flags right now they are realistic as they have seen what needs to coalesce in order for flags to be contested for and won.
Lol. 83-16 ptsd still strong in this one.

AND someone we think will be a good coach. We don't want Mark Neeld or James Hird

Does anyone really know who is being or has been interviewed for the job?

The Ashley Hanson rumour seems to be hanging in over here in WA.

So I was just wondering if he is part of the process?

I don’t think anyone outside of the clubs inner sanctum does. Jake Niall mentioned Gia as still being in contention today, but I thought he’d been dropped off the list.

I’m bemused by some of the commentary in this thread.
To me there appears to have been a lot of interest in the job, as there should be. We don’t really know how many but if there had been only a small number we would have been more advanced in the process by now.
There have been candidates fall by the wayside as is very normal in such a process. Some will have been told they are no longer a candidate, some will have dropped out and that could be for a variety of reasons.
What we have also is a recruitment process that hasn’t been leaked and that is why even now we don’t actually know who the short list is. Final interviews with a shortlist of 4-5 candidates only is very normal, otherwise it isn’t a short list !!
This is not a sign of anything to me except that we have a professional management outfit.
Recruitment should be a confidential process.

I see sports bet has Chris Newman $2.50 McQualter $3.00 Yze $4.33 and Clarke $7.00 there are another 14 names on their list which finish with Nathan Buckley at $34
I would very much like Newman to get the job loved the way he played, speaks well and very highly regarded at Hawthorn. Has had exposure under a few coaches including Clarkson and has proven himself at VFL level with coach of the year.

Apart from Carr dropping out I think all the best candidates did apply.

I know there have been musings about him being promised the port job in the future as the reason for that but as I recall one reason was that he has kids and a wife and they decided they didn’t want to move out of Adelaide at this stage of their lives.
Sometimes we forget these guys have a life outside footy and have other pressures that are part of decisions.

Good thoughts there Streaky. It seems nobody really knows who is in the mix except the powers that be inside Tigerland.

Does anyone remember how many candidates tried last time? It became Hardwick v Hinkley, with Brad Scott sniffing the breeze and jettisoning for Norf. Anyone else, or was the publicised 'list' that short?

How would we know? It’s not like they publicise the list
Sometimes we pay way too much attention to what is said in the media. There have been so many conflicting reports this time around.
I remember reading on the same day a few weeks ago the Hayden Skipworth was both a shortlisted candidate and had dropped out.
I take it all with a grain of salt.

That's kind of what I was getting at: the reported list this time is still probably longer than last time. And that worked out fine.
