2024 Richmond Coach

I don’t think anyone outside of the clubs inner sanctum does. Jake Niall mentioned Gia as still being in contention today, but I thought he’d been dropped off the list.
Jake Niall wouldn't know.
The bloke is clueless. Steven King was told not apply, while Gia was told last week he hasn't made the cut.
Not sure what Jake heard.

Right now, with our specific issues as a playing group I would be looking for a strong personality willing to ruffle a few feathers with a tough and disciplined approach.
I would look very seriously at Figgy, who is hungry as all hell for a flag, with Grigga as assistant.
Buckley was only hungry for a flag at one club. He’s far too comfortable in the media now to even think about coaching, and honestly who would blame him?

The playing list shouldn’t turn applicants off taking us on.

Unless you’re Dimma or just plain lucky as Scott was to replace Thompson at Geelong, then chances are the only time a coaching gig comes up is when the team is bottom or near to it. With that comes the inevitable list build, some tuff decisions and difficult times.

But if you don’t want to do the hard yard’s then you may never be a senior AFL coach. Very few get to cherry pick

Mini (if appointed)will have practily the same team next year less retirements which will be balanced by the return of Lynch and Gibcus.

Given his performance this year as coach I don't see us making finals next season and I don't buy into he is holding his tactical briliance for next season.

He won’t have the same team.

Mini won’t be stuck with a totally non functioning forward line for starters and unlike this season, he will have a fair number of our 22 intake up and ready.
Gibcus, Brown, Sonsie, Banks and Clarke alone will make a significant difference as will the reasonably expected development in players like Balta, Bolton, Cumberland, Ross, Ryan and Young.
Poorer performers last year including McIntosh and Grimes will either be gone, or selected less frequently.
Don’t expect a top 4 finish but do expect player growth and with it greater consistency.

It's easy to llok at our list relative to the premiership years and say we're gone for a decade, but where were Collingwood predicted to finish in Fly's first year as coach?

Where were GWS predicted to finish particularly after we raided their midfield? For mine, GWS may be a smokey as they are only getting better as the year goes on under Kingsley.

We have a list that's as good as most going around, we just need the right message.

Who delivers that is the money question.

Sure Collingwood weren’t predicted to finish so high, but I think they have a limited time to make an impact. They have 10 over 30 in their 22. Well 2 are 30 in the next couple of weeks. But still. He didn’t inherit a bad list.

GWS same thing Kingsley inherited a talented group.

Our list isn’t horrible per se, but we lack young top end talent.

yeah, but we won that one. Signed up Wallet before the Hawks could get their hands on him, forcing them to go with that untested Clarkson.
We sure showed em !!!

Then we showed em again by leaving Franklin on the table!!! :))

Not the reputation I've heard. I've heard he was a true leader and was quite happy to hit people between the eyes if they weren't meeting standards.
Same. Showed his non-friendly side when he recruited Kingy when he went to tell Wallet no one liked him
