im with bullus, dud delist and others on this. it clearly seems the top 4 mids are lalor fos jagga langford.
draper would also be in there if crows want home grown. but thats it. thats the top 5 mid pack.
Smillie is not part of this top 5 bracket.
so to me it makes perfect sense to trade 6 and 18 ( i think north would even accept 20 or 23) for 2 and something back next year.

put it this way, would you rather 2 players from the top 4 bracket or 1 player from there and then smille from the next bracket?
to me its quite simple!
with pick 1 you dont want to get an avg/ok player. lalor could be a game breaker, he could become a good avg player also. and injuries....?
Jagga is a future captain, ala cotchin. but he will get you 30+ disposals a game.
so safe number 1 is Jagga. very good accummulator and a captain who will train hard set good standards for the club.
go for the boom pick lalor at 2. too much heat on 1 for a player who could be a boom but could also be avg good.

6 or 2, to me its quite clear cut !!
If the rumours are to be believed though, RFC have Smillie in a top 6 mids. Otherwise we would trade up. Nth have been trying to seduce us with Wayne Carey songs (All i want for Xmas, is your wife), some rub-a-dub-dub offers, and some feet from their sandals n socks foot fetish collection. We haven't budged even with that fine offering.

Yeah interesting. I guess there will always be areas to query in the combine testing, so I'm happy to be back in Smillie thinking pros outweigh cons.

With someone like Allan, can those areas improve or do you have it or you don't kind of thing?
If you are playing Allan in defence it could present as a bit of a liability, he's not technically an intercept defender, he's not really suitable as a rebounder either, you might be able to fashion a career as an Andrew Kellaway type. I'm not sure what the thinking is in clubland, at pick 6 it would be a bit of a gamble. My suspicion would be those who like him see him as a tall midfielder, they probably feel his contested game is good enough to cut it in the middle. I would say it's possible but there would have to be a fair degree of boom/bust with this pick.

I assume she always watched Love Actually at Christmas as well?

I have to put up with that but managed to stay married :ROFLMAO:
Never married her. 3 Xmas' was enough for the one we affectionately refer to as "psycho"

Same but in a different way for me klo, I too rate Lalor and Fos above the others with Smith and Langford close , however I see Smillie as possibly being as good as any , however also think he could be a bit of a disappointment, glad it’s Blair not me

Wow i didnt know that!!!

I like Bo Allan, but at 6 would seem dangerously reece conca to me,

And i like reece conca too
One positive if we get Lalor and Allan is they are going to hurt a lot of opposition midfields , from being one of the easiest to break from we’d become a top notch hard , super tackling bull of a unit as I’d imagine old man Timmy will still be going well when those 2 become regulars , ad a little cherry outside and a way we go 😉

Controversial take. :peepwall The tall forwards in this draft are more likely the calibre of Hughes, Vickery, Post, Griffiths, Elton...rather than Riewoldt or Lynch. The one I would take a chance on is Faull because he busts packs and follows up at ground level.
I think Dim Sim has potential.
I'd be happy with a Faull/Sim combo.
