2024 Draft Thread

Then why beat around the bush. Trade 6 for 2 and get both Jagga and Lalor.
6 and what else? If Richmond thinks there is nothing between the top 6, why bother trading? FOS has not shown enough to make the club go hard enough for him and give up 2 first rounders, including 6.

Give up FOS fans. Unless North are willing to take selections that don’t include pick 6. He won’t be at Richmond.

Interesting. He had Allan going to the Dees at pick 11. Wonder if we have leaked this to disrupt the thinking at the Dees and, if they want Allan, they need to take him at pick 5/6 or risk missing out on him.

FWIW, I would go Allan over Smillie at 6/7. Lower risk option, extreme leadership capability
Allan is higher risk to me - hasn't got great skill or composure. You're literally drafting an athlete at pick 6

Also Smillie and Allan ran the same 2km time trial. Smillie an extremely underrated athlete. I personally prefer Smillie and don't think it's close

One trade I’ve seen elsewhere, but not mentioned on here is with GWS - 10/11 & 23 for 15 & 16. The thinking with this is that there’s someone GWS really like (might have been Travalgia) who won’t make it through to their picks. We’re then in the perfect position to pick Lindsay or Allan with 10/11 and then Berry and our preferred tall (Whitlock/Faull or maybe Shanahan) at 15/16.
10 Berry
15 & 16 The twins
18-Hynes

Gotta say it’s been fun having all these picks and having a bit of a look at the potential draftees and the discussion and excitement related to our picks , haven’t done it for years but geez I’ll be happy to just focus on Caesar’s and the clubs reports on our new Cubs and not have to put one millisecond of thought into a footballer that didn’t come to Punt rd .

Not long now , I can nearly see Rudolph’s shinny red nose

The one caveat here is Smillie's yo-yo test which places him in the below average category, is this a more reliable gauge for a midfielder who needs to attend a bulk amount of stoppages? Not sure, but I can definitively say Smillie is a better kick than Allan. For Allan to make the grade he will need to tidy up his disposal or become a clearance machine like Cripps or Fyfe. That's drawing a long bow & would be a ballsy call at pick 6.

So this would go down when the Eagles are on the clock?
I would guess so. We’ve been linked with a bid on Kako at 11 by both Twomey and Foxtel so involving us in this trade would be a way for Essendon to potentially stop that too as it would use up 28.

Twomey has called it to North. That's good enough to Leysy to move on.
Poor old spoof is very down. FOS's biggest fan.

Between this and "Smillie Vanillie" (as he calls him) we might need to put a wire cage over the tv tomorrow in case his walking stick goes through it.

Not that I wouldn't be a tad disappointed at missing on FOS either, to be honest. Lalor-FOS or Lalor-Smith for me. FOS-Smith even better.

Yeah interesting. I guess there will always be areas to query in the combine testing, so I'm happy to be back in Smillie thinking pros outweigh cons.

With someone like Allan, can those areas improve or do you have it or you don't kind of thing?
