2024 Draft Thread

Trading #20 , #23 , #24 into good F1's should be the intention so we could also have 4 picks inside 20 next year
After the academy kids are taken, there might only be handy plodders available outside the first 3 or 4 picks. Bunch of later first round picks in a skinny draft might not be worth much at all. Could be looking at Meyer, Patto, Chooka, value all over again next year.

At 10 or 11 I presume you're asking ?

Personally, think that's overs for Whitlock J.

What do you reckon ?
Bepenbs what the intel says on other cluds taking them with their picks.

I'm up for Travaglia, Allan, Derry or Whitcock at 10 or 11.

Suppose there's a shuffle up in the middle of the top ten.

Suppose Taylor now has a crack at FOS at #5 and takes him. That frees Lindsay or Langford to St Kilda. And that frees Reid to RFC. What's that - RFC has been on the phone to Reid? Interesting. Are we taking Reid at #10/11?

If FOS gets through to 5 he may get to 6. And then RFC takes FOS and Smillie appears on Taylor's and SOS's radar. And Reid gets to 10. Have we been on the phone to Reid? Are we taking Reid at #10? Not if Smillie gets through IMO. And then it may be at #11.

First joined pre back in 2004 leading up to the Deledio, Tambling etc. draft just over 20 years ago now.

5 picks under 20 we had then. So much excitement leading up to that draft with the hand we had.
Desperately needed to nail it.
We struck out so badly apart from Lids.

This feels important too. Perhaps not so much given the recent flags. Back then it was as if life & death depended on it.

Here's hoping this time we nail it..going to take time to find out despite all the analysis.
That draft was incredibly poor with almost no good players apart for first few, even if we had 10 picks ,9 out of 10 would be busts, probably worst draft ever candidate.

Who says next years draft is skinny?

On your comment on the value of 2nd round picks. Where there is a market to provide higher points value, points trades will always be available to clubs. There will be 1st round picks sold to the highest bidder as usual.

Just on mail and scuttlebutt.

I find it very interesting that a certain poster has linked RFC to Hotton and even given details of specific links to Joe Derry.

I find that very interesting.

Yeah Whitlock. I think it’s overs but if we want him not sure he lasts to 18. So if we want him will need to pull the trigger there.

Personally I wouldn’t that early.

At 10 & 11 we will have a great choice. For me it’s 2 of Reid, Allan or Berry.

Add Lalor and FOS plus two of the above and we are off to a flying start.

The key to thinking you're right & everyone else isn't is to post as much as you can in this thread. Posting with conviction is important.

FWIW I think I'm right that nobody here has a clue who we're taking at pick one yet let alone beyond that.
You're wrong.

We know.

It's Lalor at 1.

At 6 it's FOS if he's there, otherwise Smillie.

At 10 it's Smillie/Allan/Reid and at 11 it's one of them or Whitlock.

At 18 we're hoping for Hotton or Berry. Otherwise the other Whitlock.

At 20 it's Whitlock or Sims or we trade it for an F1.

At 23 it's Sims or Alger.

24 we sell.

Simples.

Hercule,

Do you make anything of the fact Jagga features in the new RFC membership video? (as does Matt Whitlock and one other).

Is this a breadcrumb, an easter egg, a Conca like stuff up or just me postulating nonsensically due to pre-draft fatigue?

Would it kill you to be emphatic? One lousy emphasis FFS.

If you'll forgive a departure from my usual grammar commie ways, I believe it's spelled "Derry".
