2024 Draft Thread

Thats a hell of a lot of assets to give up for a player we rate 2nd best in this draft that has shown little to indicate he is even really worth a top 5 spot in the last 3 years of draft picks. FOS is not an 18 year old Reid , McKercher , JHF , Sheezel
Pick #10 could be Travaglia #20 possibly JWhitlock and #18 Shannahan

Shannahan , JWhitlock , Travaglia all for FOS ?
My point was we want 2 and 6 to ensure we get 3 of the best 5 midfielders in this draft available to us.

Definitely want Lalor and FoS.
But also want 6…

The rest is just hypothetical fun…
trying to work how they achieve pick 2…

But sure…

No assurances that FoS is going to be worth pick 10,18 and 20 for 2… in my example (nb. Not the actual deal)……

but if rumours are true…..
Carlton gave 12,14 and bag of chips Owies for pick 3 to allegedly get FoS mind you…
Everyone thought Wet Coke were crazy….
Not Cartoon. Admittedly they have a better list with less immediate needs.

Just as there are no assurances that these players picked - in your example (Shanahan,Travaglia,Whitlock) won’t be total spuds…. The point of spreading risk I get but could be Pattison, Polo and Meyer too…
Unlikely I admit…

My view was and still is, in our hypothetical imaginary PRE playground of fantasy trades, that we want to pair Lalor and FoS plus keep pick 6….. whilst satisfying North who want a certain player….

In this case …
Ending up with 1,2,6,11,23,24….
Potentially Lalor,Fos,Langford and still getting Travaglia, Shanahan and one Whitlock….

Bit of fun.
Thanks for the feedback and information.
Loving the 2024 thread.

Regards,
Stan

Sirri, direct me to draft pick Trade talk......."for draft pick trades and associated discussions, talk the hyperlink on below and go here":

For Junior discussions about shrimp ruckman, oversized slow midfielders and 18yo blokes with dodgy bodies...
You have arrived at your destination.

Currently outside of Nank we dont even have a competitive ruck. We have noone. Ryan has not displayed he can be played as 1st ruck. it might change but its not looking good.
I haven't lost all hope for Samson yet. He actually played a couple of pretty good games in a row in 2023 when Nanks was injured and he played primary ruck. But we've spent alot of time when Nanks is playing turning him into a key forward. Has only played 23 games. Needs a decent stint in the ruck and it's time Nanks gave ua bit of ruck time for the cause I think.

So much upside in Hotton, I know he's coming off an ACL but I'd be happy to grab him.

The slider who Matthew Lloyd believes could be the best player in the draft

Matthew Lloyd believes one draft slider could land up being the best player out of this year’s crop.
Sandringham Dragons’ mid-forward Taj Hotton tore his ACL earlier in the year, which is expected to see him slide down the order.

But Lloyd says Hotton, who he coaches at Haileybury, could be the best player out of this year’s draft.

“One to watch is Taj Hotton,” Lloyd said on Wide World of Sports.
“He is from Haileybury and did his ACL mid-season, but I think he’s a top five draft pick.
“Whoever selects him could may well get the best player in the draft.”

Funnily enough the standing vertical jump was the only category he finished top 10 in at the combine. (7th/71cm)
He gets air, SD. He's not a brilliant catch but he's 195 and 100kg. He can get in the way. There won't be many who mark it from behind him. He doesn't have to catch it. I think he'll be a force behind the ball if it comes to that. Not to say he can't make a pack buster mid.

A lot of PREnders or PREsians if one prefers Bret chips (I blame that toff Mark Lee) are coming around to the idea that Donut is the duck's nuts.

I'd go so far as to say that Donut devotees have been quietly enjoying chips of all classes with immunity during the great Jaggitis epidemic of 2024.

Of course it's too soon to celebrate. Even with the taste of freedom so near. But we all know how just a little avatar change can make a huge difference.

Let's bring it home, citizens. (Lowers voice in tone and in volume) Cousins.

Donut for freedom. Donut for #1.

FOS has a much better side step than Lids. He's got the best dancing feet in the draft imo.

I don’t know about better than Lids but this is my favourite FOS attribute, the ability to get inside to outside.

It’s about Chad Warner like. The mix with Jagga is perfect.

Talking about KPF

I noticed there is absolutely no talk about Charlie Richardson the grandson of KB
Looks he might drop tp the Rookie draft

Wouldnt mind him as a developing KPF on the rookie list
Would absolutely take him. I’m a fan. Big fan.

On Smith, I'm looking to lock him in. Once I lock him I can get the others in order. I have almost locked Lindsay. And inside 10.
Adelaide at 4 or Melbourne at 5. Dees like Smith or Langford is my mail from someone at another club.
