2024 Draft Thread

Just watched the U16 match Metro vrs Country which country won by a few goals.
My observations are what the hell is going on with skills,,lot's of player's with average or ordinary kicks ,surely chaos style football is not responsible for this.
And another thing that pisses me off ,is player's getting too close to the player on the mark ,when having a set shot,it happens to much these days ,even in the AFL.

Loved the game of metro Ruck Harry Van Hattum a 202 cm from Northern Knight really mobile and agile, and takes a mark and kicks goals, has hardness as well.
He was up against the Bevis Brothers ,twins who are both 201cm and don't turn 16 until oct,

Cody Walker who is eligible for our NGA but is a Carlton f/s was good for country ,our NGA Tanner Armstrong was quite good ,uses the ball well.
Quite a few tall types and medium talls which is good for the 2026 draft.
I’ve watched Harry develop over a number of years and I’d be surprised if he doesn’t end up on an AFL clubs list.
As he’s grown he’s managed to maintain a very good skill level, just a natural sportsman and competes really hard.
He’s not one of those bean poles that keeps getting picked for rep teams because of his height, he has real talent, a lot like Will Green who got picked up by theSwans last year.

Geez just saw scoop at Ikon. He’s got 3 lap tops going, headphones on, binoculars and I’m sure that’s a small satellite dish he’s running with too.

Meanwhile, Nobet Pays……

Posting here not on the other thread now.

Murphy Reid very, very, good.

Charlie Richardson is interesting, should be that Jack Gunston type at the next level.

Should’ve kicked both in the third.

Been excellent. Looks a better player than Moraes. Top 3 on the ground with Ashcroft and Jagga. Ordinary day for Guy Smiley.
Yeah pick one is open a bit.

Is FOS playing the last few games of champs?

The scam that drives me insane about the NGA is claiming any kid with one parent from another country as an NGA candidate. No mind that the kid is born in Australia and in most cases started footy in Auskick. Take for example the Quaynors. Aussie Mum, Dad from Africa (I think) but all the kids born out Doncaster way and have been playing footy since age 5 at Auskick at Beverley Hills JFC. There are many examples like this, it’s a total scam and just devalues the entire drafting system.
For me, to qualify as NGA the kid must have been born overseas and not played any sort of footy until after age 10.
Spot on. I've been on the Quaynor thing for years. It's a *smile* rort. And how the hell did Scumwood get access to the best junior program in Australia for their NGA? Whilst we get the Murray River; and not the good parts like Albury/Wodonga; Yarrawonga etc. Our NGA area is rubbish. It's an absolute joke.

Just get rid of them.

Joe Berry dynamic. Lindsay the linkman. Jack Whitlock strong aerial contests. Jaques and Travaglia impressive down back. Draper good.

Patrick retschko is one that does not get any fanfare but for me screams an afl player

Has all the tools to make it

Berry interesting, from my limited viewing he looks more goalkicker small than pressure small. Where would you have him Spooky? We need another one but Seth Campbell putting his had up makes it less pressing.

Draper really jumping up and saying “ I am top 10”.

Yeah, he’s full-on attack. If he keeps averaging 3 goals a game he'd have to go pretty early. A bit of Judson Clarke or dare I say Nathan Brown about him?

Seth will end up in the mids, wing or high half-forward or a mix of all three.

Goal-kicking small forwards are back. Kako another candidate.

Thought Ian Curtis and Canelo Ashcroft dominated for VM. Hollow and Reid good games.

Seems if you have the surname Richardson you destined to be a *smile* kick.

Stay on your feet Smillie.
