2024 Draft Thread

I don't have an avatar, but he's mentioned us against:
FOS, Smith, Lalor, Reid, Tauru, Smillie, Armstrong, Allan, Travaglia, Berry, Hotton, J Whitlock, Trainor, Shanahan, Dattolli, M Whitlock, Oliver, Dodson. So only 18/30
Thats a pretty good return with only 8 picks

Ok some kinda mail but nothing really new , Tigs met with Berry again Wednesday, Bombers are apparently super keen on Berry and are likely to try and buy a pick for him , I can see their fitted first coming to us ( no idea really) .

Junior watchers will know of these , however apparently 194 cm midfield kid Unley is a super talent who will go high next year and also a key position forward from North Albury named Heatherton looks like being very very good .

Is he in our academy??

Can't rebuild in one draft sure - but that's no reason to trade picks away. Manage the contracts. Sure another top 5 or 10 pick would be handy next year - but there are no guarantees of getting that and any lower and its a worse pick than what we would be giving up.
Depends on which club is involved.
North likely bottom 4 next year
Cats surely will drop.
Bombers offer Dees f1

I hope we pull the trigger at 10

From what I got told last night Draper is a lock to Carlton at 3.

Want to pair him up with Camporeale twins who all played footy together.

If that is true then the top 4 is looking like Lalor, Tauru, Draper, smith

That leaves O’Sullivan and Langford for 5 & 6 and I don’t see us picking Smillie ahead of them, certainly not ahead of FOS who is still in pick 1 calculations.

There is a world we could end up Lalor and FOS and retain all our picks.

It’s doing my head in

PRE will find a reason to melt down over a draft pick anyway. Seeing as we've demonised a guy who was touted as the no 1 pick earlier in the year, we'll find a reason to argue the clubhave stuffed something up.
And it'll all be because of 600 points....
If losing pick 32 is the benchmark lookout.lol

I thought this a while ago @smoking and the bull dust around FOS was a screen…. Thanks for confirming.

And this is why The Rads are considering trading up to 2…. Not for Jagga but Draper…..

Even if we don’t get pick 2….
There is a pathway to Lalor and FoS at 1 & 6.
Which would be an amazing outcome…..

And if we wanted a big bodied midfielder l’d consider Jack Ough later (@23) if Smillie didn’t slide past Aints and Smelbs to 10/11…. (Where I would take Lindsay/Smillie/Berry).

Regards,
Stan

Another Wa kid who is flying under the radar a bit is Luke Urquhart, tested well at the Draft Combine too. He goes alright does Royce.

Not sure what his draft range is, but there's going to be a lot of handy players picked up with 3rd and 4th round selections.

Rather the Dees f1 than the Bombers.

I didn't say I thought it was overblown, he thought it was. Not that word precisely, but you get HIS gist regardless. Otherwise I wouldn't have a clue myself about the status of his last concussion nor them cumulatively.
Yes I was referring to his words. He is underpaying the severity of multiple concussions as such a young age. Was watching a podcast this morning and they made a good point about intensity, if he's having impactissues at underage level how will that translate to a much higher impact level against much bigger players?

Only the nature of the concussions combined with him and his doctors/specialists can determine that.

I didnt think he was impressive at the champs.
Was rough and hacked it forward.
And beaten by the vhc mids

Just my impression at the time
