2024 Draft Thread

Or if we dont we still have options imo

We could run the gauntlet and if 1 of our mids we want are there we take him but if not we could trade out
#6 for #15 , #16 + F1 to GWS that would give us #10 , #11 , #15 , #16 , #18 , #20 , #23 ,#24

#1 - Lalor
#10 - Allan
#11 - Travaglia
#15 - Hotton
#16 - Berry
#18 - Shannahan
#20 -J Whitlock
#23 - Faull

#24 - Trade out F1

Machine gun approach whilst accumulating 3 x 1st rounder for 2025

Ideally id rather trade up #6 + #11 for that north deal but i would highly doubt they do that so #6 + #18/#20 for #2
Allan is just about the most interesting player in the top end of the draft , reads like he should be spoke with along the likes of FoS , Smith etc , however only seems to get linked to a pick of 10 on , could well be a real steal 200 gamer

I still reckon Allan will be a good back line player at AFL level,,IMO,there are quite a few better mids than him.

They take Draper and Crows take Smith.
Or blues take Smith and crows take Draper
If we play our cards right.
We take FOS
Carlton take Draper
What would it take to get 4 off the Crows?
We could end up with our 3 vfl boys.
FOS/Jagga & Langford.

Reading through most of the opinion here, Lalor and O'Sullivan are rated above Smith, at 1, 2 and 3, with Draper and Langford a little behind.
1 and 2 have had their seasons impacted by serious injury and assessments are more speculative than might have been the case.

Lalor at his best looks like a young Dusty and is only just behind Ashcroft, but sense is that O'Sullivan is more outside than the game will forgive. Don't see that his injured hand has led to that and it won't surprise if he slips.

Draper, .. not for me but both Allan and Tauru to shorten.

Allan is scrappy, I want elite kicks with the first 3 picks, in fact I want elite kicks right up to our ruck/forward pick which should come in around 18.

If we target pick 1 2 4 10 & 24

That would be our midfield sorted in one draft.

We would have to go all in to pull it off.

Or do we keep all our picks and go to the draft and pick the eyes out of the draft?

Good luck selectors; pick one of FOS/Jagga or two of Allan/Tauru/Hotton. Assuming Lalor is pick one.
Presuming Lalor, FOS, Jagga, Draper, & Langford, have all gone by pick6 who is the next best onballer at 6? Smillie, Hynes, Allan, Ough, or Hannaford?

Venables was also labelled the next Dusty, it's easy to get seduced by comparisons, I'm not getting carried away until I see his endurance rating. Even De Goey took a few years to get the tank firing on all pistons. In saying all that it's interesting that you point out O'Sullivan's inside game as a potential crack in the windscreen, that's fair, there's always more uncertainty with outside types.

I like scrappy as an attitude which Allan has, agree on kicking but has great speed, endurance has clean hands and at 190 good aerially. Can play back, wing or eventually mid. Can replace any of McIntosh,Graham, Dow, Sonsie, Coulthard, Pickett and Rioli now and Broad in the future.

Finn's last game in the losing final to the rebels was booting 2.1 from 20 disposals, eight marks, eight inside 50s and five tackles.
That is not a bad floor for FOS so would still be my number one pick despite most jumping on the Lalor train.

Speed a key requirement too.
As with life its balance and compromise.

Elite kicks Langford, Lindsay and Oliver would be a terrific result
