If that's the case we should be planning for Smith, he probably comes the pick after Tauru. No chance we get all 3 unless we have the first 3-4 picks. All will be gone by pick 5.

If, after his body of work, Smith falls to us after Tauru and we land him at pick 6, I’m calling Tony BarberIf that's the case we should be planning for Smith, he probably comes the pick after Tauru.
It depends if the likes of Jagga, Langford etc are still there and if we prioritise very good mids before him.
With the option of taking Kpp further on.
It’s only a suggestion where I thought they might be interested if they wanted to keep F1 but we get p2.
We keep p6 if Tauru already taken, if he’s not it goes to #lolnorf. If he is taken, they get p18, 20, 23
As I said it would take some trust and goodwill.

…..
“If Tauru is there at P6, we have a choice to pick him before Melbourne/Saints or trade p6 to #lolnorf for our original p18 and 20.”

Some goodwill and trust required from both clubs. But it maximises picks for this draft.
We still have p24 to trade out (into 2025 draft) or use ourselves
It really depends on Carlton, that pick is a wildcard if O'Sullivan gets taken by Richmond.Smith is not dropping to pick #6
He will be gone
They take Draper and Crows take Smith. It really depends on Carlton, that pick is a wildcard if O'Sullivan gets taken by Richmond.
Are the Blues only interested in those two? I'm wondering where Langford fits in the equation. They take Draper and Crows take Smith.
Or blues take Smith and crows take Draper
Its such an open draft! Are the Blues only interested in those two? I'm wondering where Langford fits in the equation.
Then pick 7 would have currency, Errol Gulden is a matchwinner, I'd be happy with a version of that if things don't work out in the middle. His numbers look ok, not far off Smith's production, I also think a player with a big tank would be suited to the MCG. Langford wants to play for Richmond and I'd be happy to see him in yellow and black. Its such an open draft!
Clubs need speed, so I can see why Langford is passed over. Doubt he makes it as a starting mid.
Its why i suggested he could be a terrific wing. 20 bullet kicks and 2 marks I50.
And where does Smillie fit? His projection is more supposition than most.
I think Carlton take either FOS or Draper/Jagga and cant see them going for Smillie/LangfordIt really depends on Carlton, that pick is a wildcard if O'Sullivan gets taken by Richmond.
This is the very likely scenarioThey take Draper and Crows take Smith.
Or blues take Smith and crows take Draper
ditto..Langford wants to play for Richmond and I'd be happy to see him in yellow and black.
Melbourne take Langford? Which means all the good mids are off the board by pick 5. I'd say pick 2 becomes a necessity.I think Carlton take either FOS or Draper/Jagga and cant see them going for Smillie/Langford
But if lalor is available they would take him
1. Lalor
2.FOS
3.Jagga
4.Draper
5.Langford
6. Tauru (north)
7.Smillie
8.Armstrong
9.Reid
Smillie has plenty of fans in clubland.Melbourne take Langford? Which means all the good mids are off the board by pick 5. I'd say pick 2 becomes a necessity.
Or if we dont we still have options imoMelbourne take Langford? Which means all the good mids are off the board by pick 5. I'd say pick 2 becomes a necessity.
Be very difficult to get any of 3 of 4 mentioned unless we get pick 4 on top of pick 2.Pick 3 players from the pool of Lalor, O'Sullivan, Langford & Smith and we've aced this draft.
Like Jagga his performance throughout the year makes our decisions even harder.Langford before FOS in this draft is a big call.
Key imho DD is who will be the better player / players in 3 yearsLike Jagga his performance throughout the year makes our decisions even harder.
Performance vs Reputation(FOS & Lalor)
