2024 Draft Thread

FWIW we had an injury run for the ages & Norf still only managed to win 1 more game than us & finished with worse % than us....
We are potentially looking at 9 1st rounders over 2 drafts to kick off a rebuild.

I suspect langers is very much like joshcaddys skill set ,he was a mid in juniors , at afl his best footy was HF . Langers is an elite mark and kick if he can’t cut it at midfield he still has a future ,,,in any case who’s to say he can’t emulate clarry or cripps
Could Langford emulate Caddy in later years and play wing?
Elite endurance, his running is a strength.
Plus a tall strong mid, so can be similar to KMac and physically dominate the oppo.
Great mark in defence.
Aerial target in attack.
And his kicking is a weapon

Adelaide only has picks 4 & 64. We could do F1 + 24 for 4 and F2 if we really want our man at 4. Gives us 1, 2, 4, 10, 18, 20, 23. (Lalor, FOS, Smillie, Hotton, 2 x Whitlocks, then trade 23 for an F1). Would leave us two firsts and two seconds next year.
What's the go with picks next year?
This draft runs deeps apprantly.
But next years is very shallow apprantly.
Therefore unless north ask for 6 & 18 for there 1st next year and 1st this year they can stick it.

With people saying Sharp would have been Pick 1 this year if he was eligible, I can't see us trading out our F1.

Everyone seems to be assuming we will have pick 1 next year. That's not a guarantee. We had a horror run of long term injuries to key players this year. Horror. That could happen to anyone. Us, North, Crows, even Melbourne and St Kilda would be vulnerable to finishing last with key long term injuries next year.

There’s also nothing to say that we couldn’t get another horror run next year.

The club pivoted early in 2024 and "managed" players once it was clear we were in for a shocking year. For evidence check who we had on the bench late in the last quarter in the win against the Swans.

We will have multiple kids to get games into so the club can "manage" us into the #1 pick again next year.

We are all in on super charging this rebuild in shortest time frame

Nothing guaranteed but it would take another drugs scandal for us not to finish last

Maybe true ….however ….
we are going to lack Rioli, Shai, Bakes, Dusty and JG….
Replaced with multiple draftees….
Makes it challenging…
Combined with multiple blokes coming off ACLs….. reckon we are finishing bottom 2.

Stan

If we got north's F1, it would be cool to avoid the wooden spoon and still get the first pick.
