2024 Draft Thread

Could pretty much guarantee Blair will.

A couple of others will step in responsibility as well.

I'm sure we would already have our rankings squared away. So decisions would just be about balancing player types which Blair presumably has ultimate decision over anyway

Although ratings should be complete. His nous/views will be missed during any deliberation. Not belittling the Toce's grief but damn RFC have had a challenging year.

Was only thinking that last night. Nothing compared to what his family is dealing with but losing your head recruiter weeks before the draft with a near record bevy of first round picks is so RFC 2024

“Personally, Sid Draper would seem to be a perfect fit. The South Australian product might be the best prospect full stop.

His agility and speed as a starting inside midfielder have been on show all season at a high level. He’s the sort of player who can play early and play often and is a complete point of difference to what Carlton has.”

From “The Roar” today……18/10
Backs up my thoughts (regarding Cartoons FoS charade) which are probably incorrect ….. much like most of BF.

Regards,
Stan

Stuff that.

Pick 1 - Dustin Lawler.

Give him the number 4, a Dusty buzz cut and some neck tatts.

"Oh Dustin Lawler, you are the love of my life...."
Give him 44 and ease him into #4 no pressure

certainty here if 1-5 is right. It could be 6 straight. We don't know if we'll get away with keeping #6. In the scenario that we do keep it and still get #2. (Outsider at this stage IMO.)

Francis Jackson has been getting more involved to assist

Big call to overlook the Flying Viking at 6 Smoker!!

Great to get a guy standing on heads in the forward line then bouncing back quicker than anyone else!!

Also beware the bloke flying up the draft charts when there hasnt been a game of football for 2 months.

Blues want FOS and are hoping the Kanga Kanga Roo Roos take Langford or Tauru as some rumors are suggesting.

With all the buzz about Langford and Tauru climbing up the charts there might be a chance that Jagga is actually still there at 6.

Smillie or Jagga or Langford or Reid will be there at 6. The question is do the Tigs take 2 mids I think they do and they should.

If the Tigers roll on the Kangas for pick 2 the Tigers will take Lalor and FOS

With 1 and 6 Tigers might get a shot at landing Lalor and Jagga.

Plenty of Talls to take later, and I reckon we will only take 1 tall possibly 2 possibly a Faull and a Gerreyn.

What happened to our academy kid the aboriginal lad, Lockwood what's the word on him he is a 6'3 6'4 size lad isn't he?

Do we still have claims on him or have I got that one totally wrong.
I cant see us not taking 2 of the best mids available at picks 1 & 6. I cant see Jagga sliding to pick 6.

Same it's mid-mid-mid to start then reassess. With Blues diving into 3, the order may very but I'm warming to Langford at 6. That's my lock for us.

Twomey had him top 10 before the season finished.

Most of the time the guys coming up the charts are only rising in media predictions.

Clubs nearly always had the player that high and media just cottoning on as they get more info.

Yes that’s true, look at Lalor, he has risen to number one allegedly without any football or combine results. Seeing his potential I can understand why but on the surface it seems strange.

In alot of ways taking lalor and Tauru makes alot of sense for us, especially considering Lindsay / Smillie / Murphy / Allan will be available at 10, and we will still have 11 as well, so we would get two of these players, or maybe even Travaglia if he slips

The more I think about this, the more it makes sense to hold.

What I love about the 2010 Gold Coast compromised draft is that Richmond ended up with three of their picks that (imo) tipped us to the 2017 premiership!
2 of them tipped us into the 2017 flag, Presty n Cadds ( the long way via Geelong ). Lynchman was added for 2019.

Same, plus when push comes to shove I don’t see Tauru going at 2 and every possibility that he is still available come our Bolton picks.

I feel the same. I think North are working the phones 24/7 trying to trade down. The Calrton link to FOS seems boring and too easy, Sam Walsh's cousin, blah blah, blah, I reckon they are keen on someone else. But North at 2, hold the keys to the kingdom and the draft order.

I'm still Jagga at one but won't be up in arms over FOS or Lalor. You can make a case for both. It's a good top three. I fee like Lalor is more Carlton's target then FOS. They wanted Petrecca and why not go and get the closest thing in the draft?

Mick Ablett who is pretty good in the player talent space on SEN this morning reckons Blair Hartley is an absolute genius to end up with the draft hand we have and it was deliberate by Blair to have this many picks this year, (referring to trading we did last year for future 2025 picks), in what in his opinion is the strongest draft in 6-8 years. Not great to lose players but if you had to do it it was absolutely the right time.
Talent so good and deep he would take all picks to the draft and wouldn't trade into 2025 unless they got some unbelievable offer.
He also personally wouldn't bundle picks for pick 2.
Say's if we get draft right he could see us bouncing back in 2 to 3 years.

Id be really keen on getting Hotton with one of the picks, huge upside, will be under the radar. Although our history with injuries isnt great, taking a flyer with the huge bounty of picks is worth it for the pay off
