2024 Draft Thread

Dan Hannebery, Nathan Freeman, Harley Bennell, Reid, Cyril Rioli etc etc And that's without looking at 1st rounders who never got out of first gear like those guys did.

I like Lalor as a player but a massive and unnecessary risk to be going 1 with him.

Pick 6 or so, sure. But not 1.
Anthony Morabito - Pick 4 Fremantle

I am not concerned about the injury.

His upside is massive for all the draftee’s especially once he gets into a professional environment.

Question is what that upside will be? Worst case Cam Rayner best case an almost Dusty.
Yeah lm not worried either,,l think alot of people aren't giving any credit to our recruiters and medico's for doing their due diligence .

Question is will we give up pick 6 & 11 to get pick 2?
Interesting if we went the opposite way...
Take Freo's offer of 10, 11 and 18 for Bolton and Baker
Take Gold Coast's 6 and 23 for Rioli
Swap our pick 1 for Saints' 7 and 8 (and future 1st)

We'd have picks 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23 and 24

This one is my favourite but not sure the saints would be interested in such an even super draft

Spook seems certain of it, SA. And that Taylor is the threat.

Is Taylor working a deal to get #9? To offer with #5 for #2? How can he get #9? Clarrie? What else could he do?

5+9 > 6+11
Clarrie?
That would be a ballsy move by Rosa. A brilliant tactical strike.
Do they want to win a final this decade? Get Oliver.
Pick 9 isnt going to give them a midfielder of equivalence and nothing that would benefit them while Scott is coach.

And the Dees turn a darling and much loved trainwreck into a rebirth of their midfield. Or a full forward they crave
They get 2 picks in the top 10.
Get it done

And 5+9 suits the Dees.
They want Lalor imso (in my own stupid opinion)
Lalor is their Petracca replacement.
So thats preference 1.
But if he is #1 then they'd be better with 2 picks and get a mid and a key forward.

If we got pick 3 off eagles (for example pick 10 and baker) could we be thinking of packaging 3 and 11 for pick 2 and norths second rounder and F2?

Lot of criticism of the Eagles, but did the Hawks just chuck a tantrum and throw the toys out of the cot? Every body knows the first week is just posturing and sizing up your opposition. Kind of feel sorry for the Eagles, and the Hawks look a little arrogant doing what they did.
Agree Hawthorn was unbelievably arrogant drinking their own bath water.
Could easily slide as their talent isn't top 4.

EAGLES KNOCK BACK BLUES’ PICK 3 OFFER

West Coast has knocked back Carlton’s offer of picks 12 and 14 for Pick 3, according to Perth journalist Ryan Daniels.

It means the Eagles, who own selections 3, 26 63 and 68, will explore other options to facilitate deals for Tom Barrass and Liam Baker.

Blues are after FOS , Draper or Lalor obviously. if they are going for #3 .............shown their hand.

Is there another that theyd be reaching for as a midfielder ? Langford?

So it would probably take our pick 10 and Baker as a minimum to get their pick 3

If Melbourne are willing to give up picks 5 and 9 for 2 they must really rate Fos and Lalor. We should end up with a very good player whichever way we go.

Not sure melb want to push higher up the order still. Their list manager said they loved this draft especially at the top end so were hoping for more high picks.
