2024 Draft Thread

So given recruiters generally work to a brief from the coach then surely good kicks will be a priority as this is Yze's publicly stated preference. You'd think players like Reid & Lindsay would be on our radar over the likes of Smillie & Allan.
Smillie is a good kick. Allan less so. Agree Reid and Lindsay should be on our radar.

If it goes Cal Twomey's way - the picks that I find underwhelming are Shanahan at 11. I see nothing special about him, hope I'm wrong. M.Whitlock - 50/50 proposition at best. Trainor - may never play a game due to concussions. Way, way too much key position risk in a midfielders draft.

I like the late mail phantom even less than I liked the original - at least the original had us taking Lindsay. The late picks don’t seem to have changed at all so hopefully he’s just guessing. Would rather trade out pick 28 than take Trainor with his concussion history.

Lalor + Smilie seems like a reasonably high risk combo...
Im really keen on the Lalor + Jagga combo. Seems a much better risk/reward balance. Maybe even worth trading pick 6 for...

And I can't wait until the draft so I can stop obsessively hitting refresh on this thread!

Tend to agree. I'm not stoked with a Lalor + Smillie combo which looks the most likely. Personally I would prefer Lalor + FOS and I'd also be very happy with Lalor + Langford or Draper...but I reckon as you say the Lalor + Jagga combo feels the right level of risk/reward.

You mean through Tiger recruiters eyes now and every Tiger supporter soon
I had him in a Tiger jumper last year,l saw the miracle 12 months ago.
Spoke to someone today connected to GWR and told me Lalors under 16 season was off the charts. Whilst he was quieter this year it was mainly due to injury. Gun cricketer which we all know so has always balanced the two sports. Put him in a full time AFL environment and the upside is huge.

Also spoke about Faull. If you want a key forward with some *smile* in him, then he is your guy.

This is why I prefer Faull over the rest of them.

Having a Xmas eve KPP cram , trying to find something in a player that says possible Jack or Tom , I’m not seeing it in any of the ones touted in the teens , maybe a couple of poor man’s DTLDs . It’s as if a few have come up the rankings year because there’s not much competition, yep no doubt the big fella’s take a while and I’m not saying they are spuds, and there is bits to work with no doubt, however I wouldn’t be unhappy if we didn’t take any ( I’m sure we will ) and loaded up on mids , small forwards and running back types , again I think Tauru is the standout , Sims had the best “ clunk” and I think Dobson will be a better AFL ruck then any of the teens rated key forwards will be.
