2024 Draft Thread

What are the trade scenarios we’re looking at with them - their first this year for a couple of thirds or something?
Trading our later picks for their first rounder - so they have the points to get Ashcroft.

Yes o swapping any excess picks this year for extra picks next year could be valuable, let’s trust the team
I think almost for certain if we haven't got another first for 2025 then on day 2 if we have 2 picks in the 20s,we would add another first especially if another club has several top 20 players still available that they rank top 20

I think with Ashcroft and Marshall Brisbane will be so pushed for points we should get their first next year fairly easily but who knows

We will potentially have the 1st 2 x picks in the 2nd round. These are invaluable.

Always a good player that slides out of 1st round projections. Hopefully the Graham compo pick is a 2nd rounder.

Take best available with the 1st and trade the 2nd into next year.

We will still need to give then an uplift pick #17 = 1025
#39,#41,#47,#57 =1356 points

Leaves us with #1 , #17 , #21 , #29 , #66 , #73

And that ladies and gentlemen is why you take the Raynor type at pick 1...
The guy that can stand up and win you a final or a grand final...

Who's the closest draftee to Rayner?
Is it FOS or Lalor?

Brisvegas don't get to buy much of anything with 1356 points. They need way more than that. Ashcroft would need to be called at pick four and then Brisvegas would need to also add their couple of late picks to the points and barely scrape in to get him. Straight into deficit on their next years draft first pick to match anything later to get their academy kid Marshall.

I thought that was ah chee (8) and lohmman (20) and Fletcher (12)

Raynor certainly had a good second half and applied the glazed cherry,

after disappearing for the first hour

But it does highlight the need to collect first rounders.

You can collect 1-2 a year for 5-6 years

Or assemble 8-10 of 'em in 2 years

That's superb if along with Graham pick,we end up with 3 picks in the 20s,it's going to make our 2025 draft hand strong also.

Not sure it says that but it does reinforce that the better teams have an x factor player or two, players who do the extraordinary in big games.
If we end up with a few 1st rounders then we should look at getting that burst type player for sure
