2024 Draft Thread

I think Sam Lalor is a must selection for us. We need clearance players that also are defensively minded and can stick a tackle.

This is the stuff I'm here for. Good work @Teckor. Nothing there looks to be a reach.

Are you expecting we would pay some of Rioli's salary in that trade scenario?

Is it possible Baker has committed to West Coast?

Do we need to get more from Brisbane given the points difference in that swap of picks? Perhaps a third rounder next year?

With GC they add another high draft pick plus Lombard plus Rioli. I think they would be happy with that. If we start paying salary then surely we need pick 6.

West Coast and Baker - depends if Barrass leaves and where Hawthorn finish. The only other picks they have at the moment is 23 and future 2nd for Baker - maybe they have to find a pick in the teens.

Brisbane - not sure where Marshall will go too but they may need more points so future picks then come in.

its a nice clip.

a few observations

1. he is the power mid of the draft. appears the closest thing in style to Harley Reid.
2. he's no dusty by foot. hes adequate but kicks a few mungas.
3. would pair wonderfully with jagga. jagga gets ball, gives ball to lalor in full flight, fend, inside 50.

I think its realistic we could get these 2?

here's a hypothetical: lets say we have 8 first rounders,

would you give em all for Jagga FOS and lalor? (that may be doable)

me? I'd want Joeberry too.

I would literally give my left nut for Jagga, FOS, Lalor and Joeberry.

Having a good look at Jagga

Incredible ball winning ability, especially at stoppages, knocks up getting clearances, has an instinct for where the ball is going, excellent hands and agility. Thats the positives

The negatives are many however,

He is so light, doubt he is 70kg, and doubt he will ever be 80kg in his life, so his body projects to end up as Clinton King
I reckon his kicking is actually below average or average at best, very conservative in his ball use by foot, and I reckon this is the reason,

Due to his weight and low hurt factor I doubt he ever makes it as a star in the AFL, will play 200 games but, will never be elite.

Reckon it depends if you look at what someone might not do/be Vs what they can/are (and how good they are at it) Niko.

Bids aside, I reckon on that order it goes something like

Rich Jagga
Norf Trainor
WC FOS
Crows Draper
Melbourne Lalor

if we dont take Jagga at 1, he could possibly get to 5? but unlikely IMO.

ideally Norf or Dees have FOMO on Smilie or Langford and we'd get Lalor at 6.

I reckon most likely opportunity is Norf might split pick 2 (2500), for 6 (1750) and 14 (1160) because its quite likely Trainor is still there at 6.

Then we'd have 1,2,9 and 10

and two of Jagga, FOS and Lalor is a reality.

but we want three of em.

so then we could do a Hail Mary, to-good-to-refuse Dees 5(1880) for 9(1460) and 10(1400).

then we get jagga and Fos and Lalor,

and Joeberry slides and we grab him too at 17

then we grab Bo Allen at 21, and Tom Sims at 29

thats probably what you already said?

Jagga, FOS, Lalor, JoeBerry, Allen, Sims

MY mate sent me this if any Tiger hasn't seen it? It's very thorough and I don't agree with everything, but something well done overall.

How would Petracca going into the pool effect the sitch?

I think Dees would get the other half of the remaining first round,

and give them to us for Noah Cumberland.

leaving us with

I agreed with most except i'm uncertain on Reid. Do you think the trades or compo picks were fair for us as i thought we were getting stitched up?

Ok I guess, but some things are fundamentally true

And one is that Jagga will be a lighweight, and hence find it hard to break a tackle and stick a tackle

As an inside mid, this is a pretty big issue

This is not gunna change
