2024 Draft Thread

Fair enough.
I like him...not as pick 1...but would love him as our 2nd or 3rd pick.
I like him too. But pace is a concern given our already slow midfield. Lalor for example has that burst speed.

In each game I saw him I was really impressed with Bo Allan. What do the sages think of him and more to the point, any risk with go home factor? Would we prefer Victorians?
Love him. Big, fast, aggressive. If he wants to go home we have a Harley Reid bargaining chip.

Finn O’Sullivan (12 disposals, 83% disposal efficiency, two goals)

“I was really excited by Finn's game. He looked a class above the level. The really impressive thing from Finn was the fact that he probably could have thrown the towel in after a really heavy knock in the first quarter that reduced his time up the ground and around the footy, but he put his hand up to stay out on the field for the team and just looked really classy with ball in hand, made some really good decisions, and showed his lateral movement and strength in contest. Really exciting to see him step up and match it with senior players at VFL

Jagga Smith (24 disposals, 17 contested possessions, three rebound-50s, seven clearances)

“It was great to have young Jagga Smith in Richmond colours over the past few weeks. It was the first time we got to see him in great conditions, and I thought he led the way around the contest with 17 contested possessions and seven clearances. He's got a bright future ahead of him.”

I think the idea is both are contracted,

so you set a high price and happily let them play out their contract if the price isn't met?
And that’s how you overplay your leverage and end up like Dodoro.

Brisbane currently have 14, 52, 67 for 1476 points.

Bid at pick 1 and they need 2400 points
Pick 2 = 2014 points
Pick 3 = 1787 points
Pick 4 = 1627 points
Pick 5 = 1502 points

Brisbane need to trade their pick 14 (worth l1161) for more points as 14 will get eaten up and they are short. They dont want to carry over to next years first round pick. Pick 14 will get more points in a trade for multiple later picks. Can trade future picks or even trade a player for points too.

They don't want Richmond bidding at 1 as that is 400 more points than North at 2 and they dont have.

Richmond has 2,000 points in picks from pick 33 and has built up the picks for this exact type of trade. So at this stage it is in Brisbane's best interest that Richmond don't bid at pick 1 but do a trade for points for pick 14.

Brisbane will take him no mater where he is bid at so the value for Richmond is leverage and Brisbane's pick 14.
And ofcourse there's Carlton with the camporeale twins...
Might be a better pick on offer than Brisbane's 14

Nah, he does it every transaction.

Weve been mr.nice guys for 7-8 years.

Theres a lot at stake if were gonna try pull off a full list rebuild at triple pace, before tassie.

Weve simply got to play hardball this year.

Whats the down side in blowing up a trade for $hai and Danny?

They both play another 150 games in black and yellow?

Thats a rare and profound negotiating position

The slow midfield is a fair comment for now but if we project three years ahead when we hope these draft picks will be starting to shine, Hopper and Taranto will be starting to fade so it shouldn’t be a problem.

RICHMOND has looked at auditioning more potential No.1 draft picks through its VFL program as the Tigers look set for a bumper draft crop, with the club attempting to get classy midfielder Murphy Reid into the team as well.

The Tigers will have top pick contender Harvey Langford play for their VFL side this weekend, following midfield pair Finn O'Sullivan and Jagga Smith in recent weeks.

Smith and O'Sullivan will return to play for the Oakleigh Chargers this weekend, with Smith's three-game run for Richmond now done. O'Sullivan may play one more game for the Tigers but it is to be determined.

The Tigers requested Sandringham Dragons talent Reid to play for them as well in the VFL, however he will play for the Dragons this week. His VFL affiliate is the Sandringham Zebras, so if Reid was to play at the level it would have been for them.

The Tigers have also had interest in getting Eastern Ranges midfielder Josh Smillie to feature in their VFL side however, like Reid with the Zebras, the Ranges have ties to Box Hill Hawks. Smillie will play out the year with the Ranges.

With the Richmond injury list cutting into the Tigers' VFL squad as well, the club is able to ask for AFL approval to have potential draftees play for them to fill their team line-ups even if their Coates Talent League regions don't match up as affiliates with the Tigers.

Richmond has used the opportunity to trial three of the top contenders for the No.1 choice. – Callum Twomey

Sam McClure said that a recent dynasty team has pick #1 just 4-years after their last flag. He says we need a lottery and the system is broken for that to happen.
He’s very fearful the Tigers will have overtaken his Blues by 2026

Hear hear Hirsute you wooly Dakota Bison you !

The system was broken according to that douche bag when we were on top and got Lynch. And now it's broken again because we're last and get the 1st pick - something everyone's essentially got since 1986 !

What he meant to say was "I don't like Richmond so anything positive for them I am opposed to".

Scumbag is especially pissed off now that he has no more Dusty departure stories to write, something the bs artist bottom fed off for years.

I'll tell you what's broken: the entire AFL media industry.
