2023 mid-season rookie draft

On points against, we've got the 5th best defence in the AFL, not sure another defender was a real need.
Tom Brown (1st rounder) was drafted as a half back at the expense of JVR. This fascination for half backs has to stop.

I am really happy when the Coulthard pick. Having Mansell and Coulthard on the list has an F1 feel to it.
Any Schumachers in the 2023 draft ?

With us selecting Coulthard, wondering whether we would've selected Hansen Jnr if he had been still on the board.

Reckon Couthard was the contingency plan. We were reportedly interested in Hansen jnr

I don't mind the Coulthard pick, it's playing the percentages, I think having depth alongside Seth Campbell has been good use of the rookie draft. Small forward aces can pop up from time to time, I also think Clarke did well with Stengle so he has some form in this area. I reckon there's more chance you strike an AA quality player by going down this path than any other position. A player the calibre of Charlie Cameron or Eddie Betts always possible.

Got what Leysy asked for.

Someone who is a massive list need then took the best prospect from our VFL team.

Can't complain on that, hopefully they are good enough.

Below is a bit more posted before on Trezise. Needs to work on his footskills, but extremely untapped.
Good grief. When will we learn.

"Two SANFL players have been selected in the 2023 AFL Mid-Season Draft, with Glenelg’s Matt Coulthard and Eagle Mitch Hardie getting their chance at elite level.

Coulthard, who was playing just his third Hostplus SANFL League game on Saturday, had his name called first by Richmond at pick No.4.

After undertaking a massive pre-season campaign, Woodville-West Torrens midfielder Hardie was rewarded by his selection to reigning premier Geelong at pick No.7.

Electric small forward Coulthard needed to play his third League match against the Bulldogs to qualify for selection and the 22-year-old certainly didn’t disappoint.

Measuring in at just 176cm and 69kg, Coulthard booted a match-defining four goals in the challenging conditions at X Convenience Oval.

It marks a stunning, sudden rise for the First Nations goalsneak, who only played six games for Port Noarlunga last year and five Reserves games for South Adelaide in 2021
