2023 mid-season rookie draft

Have to laugh at the thinking of some on here,a afl key forward needs rare talent or a elite trait to make it,the complainers need to go back and actually play on a successful key forward to just see first hand, how good they really are and that average talent gets killed at this level.
What have both riewoldts,Cameron, kings,Naughton, Lynch,Darling, and many many more got in common all were high draft picks.

Everyone saying we’re desperate for a small forward.
What are Judson Clarke, Steeley Green and Seth Campbell?
Chopped liver?

what about that guy who used to play for werribee that went to the cats and had a succesful career.
Pods, he wasnt a high draft pick, someone like that would have been handy.

One is showing a few signs but yet to impact at AFL level and the other two are speculative picks who, if they do make it, need a lot more time.

Massive massive need for us.

Guess it depends on what our list management have in mind going forward. Surely they are aware of our lack of tall forwards & have a strategy.
You would hope Harry H is on the way. Even if he is, I’d still take Buller tonight.

A bush flyer. We can’t have all chips invested in him. Buller was the play for me to manage risk.
Buller might do ok at Sydney, I've seen similar players excel, Heath Grundy for one, then there's Hayden McLean, the SCG tailor made for this type.

Yeah Sydney will try and turn him into a key back 100%.

Doesn't have the agility/leap for a key forward role at level for Leysy. Some outside chance if moves back.

On points against, we've got the 5th best defence in the AFL, not sure another defender was a real need.
Yeh I agree though the last time I went on a rant about ‘too many’ it was too many smalls when we took baker. So there must be a plan..?..?

Mclean starting to blossom, gain confidence. Still needs to get more involved. A big lug of a lad
Probably having similar impact to Miller

And Sydney are desperate for key backs.
Will get games this year

Larkey. Pick 73. Mihocek 22 ….in the Rookie Draft. Mitch Lewis pick 76.

We just need someone to play a role to maintain some structure the next few years. We have minimal options right now.

Campbell still out injured 4-6 weeks.
Clarke has been the sub for a couple of games, maybe they don’t see him as a pure small forward
Green, dunno. How’s he been going in the vfl? What position does he play there?

Just a small sample size, but wow!!! Got some tricks Couthard. Has speed, and loves to tackle. Great goal sense. He and Maurice junior could cause havoc for opposition teams. Reminding me of 2017 when these 3 rioli, butts and george caused havoc.

James Trezise, seen a lot of him, is a hard runner, and also has good closing speed. He's courageous, and strong overhead. Puts on pressure too and knows the game plan/system.

I’d suggest Coulthard is more speculative than all 3 players I mentioned.
Not even the highest ranked small forward in the pool.
Fingers and toes crossed

Of our VFL players. James Trezise cleary the one for Leysy.

Suits our needs best and far higher scope than the others ILO. Hope we take him plus a small forward or a key forward (though chances of a decent one of the latter will be limited you'd think).

Got what Leysy asked for.

Someone who is a massive list need then took the best prospect from our VFL team.

Can't complain on that, hopefully they are good enough.

Below is a bit more posted before on Trezise. Needs to work on his footskills, but extremely untapped.

Trezise has played predominantly half forward his whole career, only really moved back the past week or so for our VFL team and was forward/mid playing in the country for Tooradin-Dalmore.

He's an interesting type. Totally untapped (never been in any pathway) athletic freak - Has pinched hit in the ruck at 188cm.

Big player in his teams flag and made the West Gippsland League team last year.

On a pretty steep upward curve ATM and someone obviously interested for him to do a medical.

Is a left footer, that we need more of.

The thing I don't get to they will say we got Bradtke and Bauer now trying to make him a defender yet we don’t play either rather persist with a injured and tired Jack puzzling.
Not sure why we dont play Bradtke?
He's a 1st year player who didnt join us with elite fitness. Very different to an u18 vic metro kid.
Then he breaks his hand so misses half the matches so far.
Bit hard to play him.

Bauer is undersized for a key role, on the short side and not solid.
And for whatever reason The club has him playing back and improving his footy. Not yet ready for afl.

We have Ryan and Miller as 2 talls in attack.

I get we posters are frustrated by this season. But no puzzle why we have Jack playing and not B or B
