2023 mid-season rookie draft

Robert Hansen Jnr from Subi any chance?

We could sure use some types like him. The biggest need on our list ILO.
Very much liked the look of him, smooth moving, classy left footers always do it for me.

How is he looking though Caesar?

Fully = contact drills?
Marking?

How does he look after training?

Any signs ( negative ). ?

Obviously they think he may contribute this year hence no mention of retirement.
Last week in the 2 v 1 and 3 v 2 drill he was full contact and taking intercept marks and then turning the ball over to forwards as per the drill. In the match play he was in the midst of a number packs and spoiling as needed with full body contact.

Thanks HK for the info.

My picks are Tom Brindley (ssshhh) for the now and Archie May for the future.

We practice turning the ball over? Explains a lot about our forward entries then!
Give back....

Having said that I was very concerned after the 2 v1, 3 v 2 drill. This drill goes the full length of the ground with a 2 v 1 scenario and then 3 v 2 and a final pass to a forward. The first 3 goes not a single foot pass hit a target. So yeah Tarrant intercepting was easy.

After an intercept the back hands the ball back to the forwards to continue the drill.

I want some lefties.
We haven’t got many at all. I don’t care whether they big talls, little midgets or anywhere in between.
Just get some in or the list management team can gagf

I just mentioned on training thread that although Tarrant is marked as 'indefinite' he pretty much trained fully for second week in a row.
Silly as It sounds , I wouldn’t be against using Tarrant forward for the rest of the season and leave Balta, Young etc to gel down back , we are crying out for a big body to just make a contest in the forward half , Tarrant played early as a key forward , certainly no Lynch, however can hit packs like Tom

I see Smith Has been put on the inactive list . So we now have 2 picks in the mid season draft . Now lets see if Tarrant retires on Monday or Tuesday . We could 3 picks .

Agree with leysy

They have done the numbers on this

Rookie and pre season picks most likely to strike gold are on small forwards and key defenders

Mid season draft should be the same

We are desperate for quick small forwards to put pressure on the ball coming out of our forward line

It’s a dire need

I would take two in Wednesday night

If one makes it , it’s a huge bonus

If RFC believed there was sufficient depth for three picks in the mid-season draft then they would give serious thought to tapping Tarrant on the shoulder to retire.
And if the depth isn't adequate they will keep him around for his experience, even though it seems unlikely he will play much.

I fail to see this years' mid-season draft as a panacea to anything albeit it will be good to have a new face on the list

But recruiters who spoke to The Age on the condition of anonymity consistently said for weeks there was a dearth of talent available this year,

Be great fillip for our VFL program if we select a current player from within our squad.
Will encourage young players with a dream to consider us a destination club

Small forwards yes but key defenders? Not sure about that one, Rance (18), Weitering (1), Sam Taylor (28), Daniel Talia (13), Darcy Moore (F&S), Scarlett (F&S), Brennan Cox (41), Jordan Ridley (22), Harris Andrews (61). We have spent accordingly in this area with Gibcus & Balta, sometimes you get lucky with a player like Andrews but chances are you will be left with B grade option. Rookie picks great for small forwards, back flankers & rucks.

Any chance we can draft a decent coach in the mid-season draft?

Teague and Mini Dud need to be place on the LTI list.
