2023 mid-season rookie draft

WA state captain Matthew Jupp saying he can't believe Angus Schumacher isn't on an AFL list and that he's the prototype midfielder. Those 2 statements feel like a death knell for a player, feel like I've heard it before and the player in question rarely gets drafted.

While only a small sample size (3 Vfl games and 2 young guns games) after coming off preseason wrist fracture and surgery, this 18 year old lad could be something special. Was rated the best key forward in first young guns game ahead of maric.

Jack's retiring, Tom Is 31 in a few months time and Bradtke is still an unknown quantity. On that basis I reckon selecting a tall forward is the type of player we should be selecting in the draft. The likes of a Buller, May or Brandon Ryan would be good.

Will Elliott is no good. Barely has an impact at U18’s for a guy 200cm tall.
Didn't he do a knee or something and miss nearly all last year?? Also as with most young kids at 200cm tall, he'd have been an absolute pencil. As an athlete, kids tend to grow up before they fill out.

Yeh he’s my pick but shhhhhh!

Talls and zippy small forwards only I hope. I would be happy with 2 talls who don’t enter the team for 2 years. This is the best sneaky back way draft opportunity given not everyone has a pick and we are up for pick 3? I hope we clear an extra spot and double up.

Robert Hansen Jnr from Subi any chance?

We could sure use some types like him. The biggest need on our list ILO.

We have got two picks now with Kaleb Smith placed on the inactive list for the rest of the year. It is a good chance to have a look at a couple of players for the rest of the year. Maybe Hansen Jnr if he still there with our first pick and one of our VFL boys with the second.

Key position players please.

A tall forward and a tall back are my wish list.

Good mark and good skills.

I don't think we need a tall back at this stage.

I think we need a tall forward, and probably a small forward but I also think any of Tresize, Teal or El Nour will be good long term players as 1 of those mid sized defenders that we play with. Teal probably the most flexible as he could play on a wing very nicely too.

Would love a key forward first pick, maybe Jack Buller or Jaiden Hunter (Maric is touted to be pick 1 so we will miss him), then a Richmond VFL player second pick. El Nour, Teal, Trezise or Archie May

The news about Kaleb Smith eases the pressure on Tarrant I suppose. I doubt they'd use 3 picks in this draft.

Good way to continue the transitional change with three picks provided there’s three players in the pool we’re really after.

Agree with others in that at least one of next week’s pics has to be a tall forward.

I just mentioned on training thread that although Tarrant is marked as 'indefinite' he pretty much trained fully for second week in a row.

How is he looking though Caesar?

Fully = contact drills?
Marking?

How does he look after training?

Any signs ( negative ). ?

Obviously they think he may contribute this year hence no mention of retirement.
