2023 Draft Thread.

North get so many handouts it is ridiculous. Time to call time on them and merge with Footscray.

This is just crony capitalism at it's finest.

You make some very valid points EZY.

But does Caddy going top 10 say more about the quality of players in this years draft?

shortage of KP's in the open pool i reckon.

The Melbourne Private School goggles plays a part too i reckon

I find your responses to the GC/Allies info i provide really strange?

That aside,

When i say 6.50 2km is a pretty *smile* time,

Thats the Bell Curve, not really an interpretation..

Its officially 'below average' i beleive? But average at best

But taking your data set at face value;

Balta and JVR are Caddys height and cross the line in the 2km at 18 in the same bunch,

And went in the 2nd round.

Gibcus is an inch taller and is 50m ahead of them,

And went in the 1st round.

I like Caddy and he might go at 6? But his CV puts him firmly in the 2nd round.

Thats been my point all along, and i rest my case
The time is fine compared to two guys who went too low ( Balta & JVR) after their draft and an athlete at his size (Gibcus). Your shoot first response is ”a red line” and to wedge in Gold Coast bound ruckman who has no relevance.

Shoot from the hip without research, drop in a hometown boy with no relevance and you find my response strange?

Huh?

Not getting any less strange mate.

It involved splitting the Callaghan pick which was going for two first rounders, their first selection would have been around pick 6 (Rachele) but they also could have stitched up 3 players from a pool consisting of Hobbs, Gibcus, Wanganeen-Milera, Owens, JVR & Johnson.
Understood.
SO lets say: swap pick 1 for 6, 9, 15, 21
(or similar)
if its my club I'd be happy to get JHF. Build a premiership side around him.
They had pick 1 so its reasonable to keep it.

So the problem with North is how quickly they crashed and how low their football standards have been.
Thats on them.
If they need help give them an extra pick in the 40s to draft the Jack Ross and Kamdyn Mcintosh types.
Maybe they get lucky and get a Luke Parker.
But let them build a solid team, not a star laden team

Richmond offered picks 7, 15, 26 & Coleman Jones, do you take the extra picks with the benefit of hindsight?

We dont know what they asked in return.

My gut feel is we wanted #1 and more picks.
The media only reported #1 for 4 picks, which is clickbait headline. Its not the full story.

But regardless would i choose JHF or Josh Ward, Leek Aleer, Connor Macdonald and CCJ?
Only one side of that ledger will win grand finals. But it does need excellent recruiting to build the team to support the star mid.

Those picks were used on Gibcus, Brown, Sonsie & part of the Taranto trade, if you're tweaking the Brown pick to Johnson/Owens/Van Rooyan then I reckon you're probably ahead of the game.

Here's the complete opportunity cost for Adelaide -

6. Josh Rachale
2022 first - Jordan Dawson
2022 first - Izak Rankine

Adelaide miles ahead, Richmond still with a good show with or without Brown kicking on.

2klm time trials.
7.00 considered below average.
6.45 is considered average.
6.20 very good.
Below 6.00 elite.

The North extra picks are ridiculous, not as bad as gcs 4 picks in top 30,or 3 in top 12 ,but it's stealing from other clubs.
